Price is right. When I first looked at it I thought the year was wrong - thought it was late 70's. I Googled images and was reminded that from '73 to '79 they look a lot alike.

 

Dad had a 74 years ago. I think a case can be made that it was one of the greatest tow vehicles ever created.

Very nice! I wish our '77 Suburban Silverado had woodgrain! I would like to see some interior pics of this one. I see an emblem on the rear quarter panel... did they call the ones with wood-grain "Estates"?

 

Yep, 1973 was the first year for this body style and it ran up through 1991 - very long running style. Our '77 is only different at the grill. Ours is a "Silverado" trim version with plush seats, wood-grain trimmed out interior and it also has cruise, tilt, A/C, etc. You rarely see one with wood-grain and rarely see one this rust free. I would love to have this one in my driveway!

 

This seems like a bargain for the price, especially with the 454!!!!

I was working at a Chevy dealer parts department in the summer of 1972 when these started showing up on the transport trucks. They were quite the hit with the public at the time and the dealer sold a lot of them. For the first time, you could get these fully equipped like a comparable Chevy Caprice, with power windows and locks, cruise, tilt, etc.

 

Yeah, it would be nice to know how this one is optioned. I don't think I recall seeing an interior photo. Our '77 4wd is fairly nice optioned. It has the optional "Silverado" package (which added nicer seats/wood-grain interior accents). As far as other options, it has cruise, tilt, A/C. Engine wise, it just has a 350 with automatic. I imagine that was the base engine in those.

This was also the first year of a four-door GM Suburban. The trucks from '66-older had just two, and the '67 - '72 Suburbans had three doors.

There actually was a relatively major change in the 1980 GM trucks and Suburbans, as the front sheetmetal changed, as did the bumpers, dashes, and quite a bit more; even though there is not a lot different that is immediately apparent to the casual observer.
