1967 country squire rear power window

Relay location.

I need to fix my rear window switch as well.
Where on the firewall is the relay located?
I assume there will be 2 wires…..
Do I just jump them to make the rear window work?

The relay is close to the brake booster and I can not remember how I bypassed it.

 

I tested everything, i made sure my switch in dash was good. I also tested motor and wiring at at the rear of car to eliminate everything. turned out its the relay. I by passed it for now. I think I'm having ground issue, as relay grounds to body, bench tested relay and its working....and when I tested wires at gate it appears that I was losing ground....

The way I by passed mine was:

Red wire that runs to ignition switch, to blue wire that runs to the backlight switch ... I will try to post up a wiring diagram for you

My window now works using the in dash switch...

 

194 to 400....

OK, I jumped the red wire to the blue wire at the really under the hood, on the firewall by the master cylinder and the window still does not work at the dash switch.

BTW: The window works using the key in the tailgate, just fine.

I tried to get the switch out of the dash but my hands are too big to fit up under the dash to unplug the switch from the harness…..WTF!

Any other suggestions before I give up?

To test switch in dash I had to remove the switch from the dash. It should have for the lack of a better term a piece of trim that unscrews and then the switch can be pushed from the front, so it comes out under the dash....there should be enough slack in the harness to allow switch to be disconnected...it is tight but that should work...then test your switch like any other switch, and you should be able to jump the wires were they attach to switch....since the gate is working with key that helps, because you are getting power to motor and gate...

I never understood why using the switch on the dash goes through the relay but the switch on the tailgate does not and is direct.

 

I believe the relay is taking the load off the ignition switch... I could be wrong

how can i get tailgate window down to lower tailgate to access inner panel,won't lower using dash switch or key switch on gate.
