    blacksnake,

you are very fortunate on that battery tray area as well...most guys I have seen use the mustang battery tray and modify it to fit in there or just shape and bend metal to fit.....same with the cowl situation....there usually is alot of crap that is growing in there....at least you don't have to take off the upper cowl to clean it out and repaint it....I would suggest though keeping those drainage areas always clean cause once they get filled up with leaves and debris then the rusting begins because of the backup....trust me through personal experiences I have drilled out the 100+ spot welds several times on the upper cowl and it is a pain in the butt

    Off to the body shop!

Hooray! I got it ready and sent to the body shop today, when I do all the stripping of parts it saves a gang of money, so here she is in all her glory, gettin up on the tow truck, boxes of interior panels to be painted red as well as the hood tucked in the rear.

Man Blacksnake, you have not wasted any time on this baby! Can't believe how far you've come already. Excellent work, my friend. Can't wait to see it on the return trip.

    Few restoration questions

Well after looking up all of the trillions of dollars worth of weatherstripping on the Autokrafters web site I started thinking about several ideas for the wagon, one of which is:
I am kicking around some ideas, one of which is the idea of taking out the inner headlights on the wagon for air intake, can anyone tell me how you go about retaining your high beam low beam when you take out the inner headlights?

Also I was thinking about going with body colored fiberglass bumpers. Does anyone have fiberglass bumpers? How do they line up and do you use the original mounts or special ones? Thanks Oak

You ought to look at how most of the Fox fords do it. They run from the carb's air filter. From the air filter intake nozzle to the fender in front of the wheel well, into a PVC duct under the fender and above the fender well skirt (also PVC). Fresh air comes from just below the top of the bumper (no dust or bugs) Even the Mustang 5.0's do it that way, (to both sides!), and the I4 turbos.

Fresh, cool(er) air is far more fuel and power efficient for combustion.

Any 1978 to 1996 Fox vehicle, maybe even Broncos and Ranger trucks. You can use PVC plumbing glue to extend them forward. You need to cut a round 4" hole in the fender wall on the inside and drill a 1/4" hole to hold it in place via its own molded bracket boss.

    Quick update

Stormin thanks for the info, I have the intake sytem in mind, I am more concerned about having high beams amd low beams if I Eliminate the inner headlights.

Update: I was sick at home today with this crappy stomach flu, not enough to puke but sure not goin to work, killer body aches too, it is actually the second day (*&)$)(*$&#($*&!!!!

Today I couldnt sit in the house all day so I went outside and di some polishing as I could stand it, I took a bunch of breaks...Wow do I have a long way to go. Here are some pictures of the pieces I did today, these are the pieces I did only one of each so the wife would appreciate them.............didint work she doesnt care LOL

I actually have four headlight surrounds here are the two i will probably keep, one polished one not yet

Here are the large trim pieces on the posts at the back of the wagon oneach side of the glass, one polished one not.

This little beauty took me almost an hour to do, and I have at least 20 more pieces like this but they are all bigger, good thing the paint guy said 3 months LOL

Last but not least these are the headlight surrounds, I will have to repaint the black, I am not sure how I will do that i guess mask off and get out the exacto knife, I have yet to think about that.

The black checkered pattern is tricky, but you could use a wax crayon from one of your kids and 'mask' off the chrome lines, then spray your flat black.

    How'd you polish it?

Ref the polishing, I bought a bench grinder and converted it to a buffer. I also bought 2 polishing wheels and some polishing compound bars, that and some good ol fashion time, like I said that one piece got me for over an hour.
But I do have 3 mos or so..........

    Stay tuned...........
