Great find. It looks real solid. I've never seen one of these wagons in person either, but have always admired them in photos. The hardtops and sedans show up every now and then. This 63 2 door hardtop with factory 260, 4 speed and air, is for sale about an hour from me. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/2936494105.html
some people are lucky and get cheap/free stuff. i never have such luck. rick, your next purchase should be an old car carrier! then load it up and move to florida or some place they dont have that yucky white stuff! i remember the first time i helped my dad put up christmas lights when i moved in with him (in ft Lauderdale). It was december and i was wearing shorts cause it was 80 degrees. i remember thinking to myself..."this isnt right, but i like it!"
That is a super rare find. It looks like the important bits, like the side trim, are all there. The mechanical parts should all be common with Fords, so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding what you need.
The best news is that the mechanical 'bits' are mostly straight Mustang parts, so they should be EAST to find. Since the bulk of the wagon-specific parts are there, I'd say the parts hunt is a cakewalk. Then there is the work itself....
..it'l be lucky if i ever drive it.....but at least it wont be a Toyota trunk lid thanx...i think.... dats my point it needed me watchatalkinboutWillis??...we dont get that white stuff either....however...after driving straight up the mountains for 2 hours...they do yup...and i just found some taillights today:banana: WHAAAAT?????......i gotta work on it to??????? ..hm....is that possible?.................. Thanx for the positivity folks..... (the g/f almost crapped)...."another????????"....... wait till she see's the trailer i bought tonite....
I know that car personally - it came from the old A&H Auto Wrecking here in Oliver and our neighbors owned it briefly before that. They never drove it very long - a few days - I was amazed to see it even back then in the '70's. I never got a chance to ask about the car until it went to the wrecking yard and then the owner promptly sold the V8 out of it. I tried repeatedly to buy the car but finally gave up. The yard changed hands and the guy who now owns it had an auction and sold off a lot of the old stuff - that yard was full of old cars - thirties to sixties - I did not go to the auction but I heard the car sold and I thought that it went to Princeton but can't recall now for sure. It's the ONLY one of it's kind that I remember ever seeing and being as how I really like the little '62/3 Mercury Meteors and Fairlanes, if I saw one, I;d remember it. If you ever want to sell it Rev.. and it needs a home, I'd be interested even though I am getting rid of most of my stuff and downsizing big time. I'll have some wagons to sell off but given where we live, selling anything with four or more wheels that isn't brand new or "green" ( I HATE that term!! ) is a tough go. I've got about 250 vehicles to dispose of and a lot of them are just going to go as scrap unfortunately. But keep me in mind with the little wagon...
BooBoo....i'd forgotten you were up there !! thats great that you know its history!...thats wild that you didnt know it was up for grabs:confused:...got any goodies for it???? It was once again only days from a Scrapper....I couldnt let it happen ...and for sure pal....if i give up....you get 1st dibs!!!!!...or maybe you have stuff I need more than it....lol quick learner Mike...she had a laughter coronary ...Apparently....ive gone a lil "trailer loopy" in the last month....and she cant figure out why we need 4........women....go figure...............
Only four trailers and a herd of wagons and other toys? You'd better get off this computer thing and get to work. Remember, cars don't restore themselves!
restore???...im more like a hoarderalways seem to have the money to buy....just cant ever find enuff to work on them oooooooo.....sounds ominus....... (will look in abit)
