Last of last years Vacation finds, Part of a out door concert Venue, ATV park, Ultra Light Landing Field, and self described Auto Forrest. Just Outside of Goldfield Nevada. Lots of Pictures, Long Roof Fans Please hold Judgment. I don't condone the treatment of the cars, trucks or Buses on display. My lovely Wife Kat can be seen in several shots getting her analog shots of all the sights
In my Mind I am wondering about the Rushed and Botched Landing in anticipation of all the awaiting delights, that caused this Beach 18 to be on permanent display. Some guys will do anything for cheap whiskey and warm beer served by honky tonk angels. Everything from YARD ART, WATER ART, to DESERT ART. Quite a few years ago in a small town near us the local Ford dealer buried new Ford pick up trucks bed down, similarly to those Cadillac's out west as an advertisement. Seems like they remained near the highway for years. That would be dealership art.
Hah! That's nearly the same model Tim Matheson tried to get Nancy Allen to knock boots with him in "1941!" So I'd say about the same thing caused this crash--trying to get some-some at the controls....
I cant remember if the Plane in 1941 was a Beach 18 or a Lockheed model 10 or 12 Electra, they look similar. And either type would have been around in 1941 and accurate for a movie. Here are the rest of the pictures I took in "The Forrest"
I wonder if guys go out there to steal parts they need or can sell on eBay? That SX-4 looked like it could've had good front sheet metal. And, anybody need a front axle for their Cornbinder?
Hey I feel the same way about the local yard when I got a project going... or not going for that matter.
From the looks of it your not the first fella with this idea. Well you might be the first fella who isn't clutching a spray can in one hand and a meth pipe in the other!
I'd be there with my Krylon and maybe a Hershey bar in the other hand. I miss the good old fashioned junk yards with a junk yard dog.
But... how do they stay up there? If a bus falls in the forest and there is no one around, does it make a sound if it lands in sand?
My Wife found this when looking for things to do In Indy Lonehenge: Cadillac Ranch with One Car Indianapolis, Indiana Although inspired by Cadillac Ranch in Texas, what we generously call "Lonehenge" has only one car, and it's not a Cadillac -- it's a 1964 Pontiac Bonneville planted vertically in the ground, nose up. Unveiled in April 2015, the canary yellow car stands next to a picnic table in a small park that was built in a lot formerly occupied by a condemned house. The park's eye-catching totem was suggested by its neighbors, and the Bonneville was chosen as a tribute to the area's Chicano roots and traditions. - See more at: http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/47261#sthash.08c0m0Ch.dpuf
I wonder if that car came with the condemned lot or was moved there from the lot of another condemned house
