Ian, of course you're missed! Felt kinda weird reading your post just now. I am sitting on my porch, coffee in hand and my dog in my lap on this foggy 57 degree morning (rare for L.A.)...makes me miss the east coast! Call me crazy, but I love this weather. No wind chimes, but I do hear the neighborhood church bell ringing. Anyway, happy Sunday everyone!
I am working this sunday morning here at Napa, sundays are kinda laid back and quiet. Every other week is a six day week for me, but I don't mind sunday so much, I split the day with another assistant manager so I'm normally off by 1pm or so. Sunday is a funny day the smell of desperation is heavy in the air, guys who have torn apart the family cruiser and now have to have it fixed by tomorrow. When you tell them you're out of their part until tomorrow they can barely contain their emotions as you suggest the Zone or O' really auto parts and chuckle a bit as they drive the neighbors car out of the parking lot beating their head on the steering wheel. Ah sunday...
Good post Denny - I've been on the customer's side of the counter in that scenario you described more than once; ah, the good old days....I just went out to my garage and patted my Subaru on the hood. Well, 1 pm quitting time still gives you time for some football watching! Besides watching the Chiefs put the hurt on the Texans, I want to watch the Sunday night game - Denver v. Indy. Should be a good one.
Glide and Dewey, two intersting comments. As we get older, we miss different things from the past. As for me lately, I miss all of the car shows and cruise ins we seemed to always go to on weekends. Age has a way of keeping us closer to home. Only 140 miles east Biketoberfest Daytona is going on. We loved going to that. I do miss Illinois during the Fall. It's much cooler there now and the changing colors make the scenery interesting. Getting those cars back on the road were always nerve wracking when I did have a job to go to Monday mornin and the family car was in pieces on the drive way. Usually my friendly NAPA guy had what I needed. Or I could ride my Harley or drive one of the old cars. Didn't like doing this on those could mornings but at least I had a back up. Ah yes, the memories. And we do miss all of those members who have not been back. JRW patting the hoods of my old cars is about all that I get done in my garage too lately.
Wrote in the dust on the windshield of the Shwag the other day "get me on the road dude." Hopefully will keep me motivated.
Ian, every time I see those seats, console and floor shift, I kick myself (in my head) just a little bit........ Hey, I'm up for more FB friends. Here's mine: https://www.facebook.com/marshall.loveday
I just sent you a friend request on FB. But I'm not much of a Facebooker...I seem to not have enough time to keep up with more then one site.
How could you think that we didn't miss you. You and so many others are missed every day, it is difficult to name them all. So glad you are back. By the way you should have sellers remorse that wagon is a beauty... Feeling loved now...
I miss the guy with the big ears. I forget what he called himself. It's been a few months now. I'm thinking of starting an R.I.P. thread for those who play hookie here
I'm like you on this. I forgot his user name but BIG EARS was very active then just vanished like others did. We miss them all.
