Nice score Swanny(y), I'd love a set of those for my Buick.

What I did to my 83 today, said screw it and re-insured it for a entire year:D(y)

    .....$700 for a orange sticker....

As I said in another thread, new exhaust on my '86 Olds Custom Cruiser :D

Also, swapped the brake light lenses and housings, as well as parking light lenses for ones off my parts car, and changed a bad hood hinge, rivet broke, hood wanted to go out instead of up on the drivers side.

Just a few minor things in my slow (or rapid, if you take how long it took for this car to get in this shape) undoing of this cars rough life going from the family car to the family truck to the family truck we only drive when we need to haul stuff 'cause of the price of gas.

The Mopar rims do look good on Fords, I had them (slotted cop wheels) on my 80 Colony. How ever, Ford dog dish caps do not fit the Mopar rim so maybe don't put your up for sale just yet.....:D(y) The Mopar wide 15" rim even in plain jane stock has such a nice outward offset, yeah, they look great on Fords.

Looked at it the other day... Other than that, I got my Macungie registration receipt a few weeks ago for Sunday. Can't wait for that trip on August 5th. Probably the next time it'll be out, unless maybe for a local cruise night, but I doubt it.

:29:I've got my new rebuilt carburetor, aluminum radiator, electronic fan and thermostat installed last night. Over trimmed the hoses, both upper and lower.. but they'll work. Filled the radiator.. no leaks.. getting close to firing up. Still have to install oil and temp gauges before running. :29:

    Progress befreo a long trip

Proceeding with slow steps in getting the car fully road-worthy for the 3000 mile round trip to Spokane, WA, for 2 car shows in September. The period-correct SS wheels and new tires really sharpened the look! As far as the cooling system goes, I'm glad that I jumped into it for the flushing. When I took the hoses off and the thermostat housing, you can see the corrosion in the pictures that I found. I was surprised by the amount of corrosion both in the aluminum stat housing and on the heater control. I replaced the radiator and heater hoses, the heater control valve, the stat housing and the stat. I used a Super Stant stat and drilled a small hole in the stat, per info and correspondence with members on the TC site, to help with cooling. With the air cleaner off, I realized that something was missing on the card...the AC throttle solenoid. When the previous owner replaced the carb, he did not put the solenoid back on, probably because he had removed the AC belt for some still-to-be-determined reason. I'll locate one and install it when I get the AC system worked on. I found that the ball joints appear to be tight but the boots have deteriorated;I ordered new boots and will be replacing them. I found a splice in the positive battery cable, and you can see in the picture what I found under it! I think that the previous owner spliced, rather than replace, the cable when they switched the battery from a side terminal to top terminal one. Naturally, I replaced the cable. I picked up some new wheel well trim and control arm bumpers from (Impala) Bob's Chevelle Parts in Mesa - great place as they will price match documented lower prices, and nice people!

I took my "new" '77 Buick Estate to the AC shop that advertises "its never to old to keep it cold" yesterday.
    :(
The compressor, condenser, and dryer are fine. (I already knew that.)
:Blasting_anim: Apparently, some shadetree mechanic replaced the heater core and cut all the vacuum hoses and wired it to 'heat all the time.'
    (I suspected that)
The mechanic threw up his hands and said "I give up."
    (I didn't expect that)
He suggested I go somewhere else and see if I can find someone more familiar with these cars to fix it.
Its 94 F in Central Florida today.
Thats just part of the adventure of buying an old car I guess.

    (y) On a positive note, the new ACC carpets and floormats arrived.
They look like good quality stuff.

I'm still looking for a drivers side taillight and blue drivers seatbelt.

Fixed what was a small leak. Managed to make it a big leak. Built new gasket, used better gasket sealant and finally that is done. :whew:

Had a broken bolt that needed to be drilled and the hole retapped so got that done.

Then I walked slam bam into the hoist. Knocked myself silly. Next thing I know I laying on the floor with one heck of a headache. Not sure how long I was snoozing but there was a different song on the radio if I remember correctly. Got up, went to walk away and still a little woozy, wham, did it again, not so hard, but it made my ears ring. I'd forgotten I had the hoist down a tad for the wheels free because I was also adjusting rear brakes and fixing the emergency brake.

Put a good gouge in the head, staggard to the house which is about 300 feet, wobbled my way over the creek and my wife saw me coming and oh oh, was I in for it. Catching it big time from ones spouse should also be considered doing something on the wagon shouldn't it? I mean, if so, Tedy and I are ahead of the game :162:.

After the headache disappeared I finished the brake adjustment, took the flex plate inspection cover off and have the car ready for a visit to a tranny shop first thing in the morning. I'm not even going to attempt to replace the flex plate and converter myself. I just don't have the blast to do that stuff any more it seems.

Did a bit of work on the trailer, sliced a finger big time, the wife had to do the bandage install while I kept pressure on it so the blood wouldn't spurt all over her and SHE decided I'd done enough for the day. Sheesh, she gets so angry when I do silly things. OK, so I was maybe not thinking quite straight yet after the head wallops, but still, I think I could have done something else yet today.

    Life is good.:rofl2:
