I'll bet other Chrysler's from that era/period/year might work... anyway to do some kind of a cross-reference? :drink:

What have you done to your wagon lately? Well, I have done nothing. Still setting, still rotting away. I am thinking about selling it or see if I can trade it again.

Plans I thought were coming through to finally get it restored have delayed or maybe even not happening now, so it may be time to let it go. :(

Projects that sit soon become uninteresting... it's something that happens time after time with us wrenchers. It's ok.. sometimes one needs a fresh project and a fresh start.. just keep those hands busy! Good luck! (y)

lol, yeah, I agree and after 5 years, I dont think it will happen now. I tried to buy this car from the old lady for 10 years and when she finally said she would sell it for $5000 (which I knew was WAY TOO MUCH), but I wanted it so bad. I was able to talk her down to $4000, which was still way too much. That left me broke with no money for repairs. I finally did pay someone $500 to supposedly get it running good again, but it didnt and they never came back. Its been setting ever since. Hard to find good mechanics anymore.

I put a 700R4 in it last year. Have put under 2,000 miles on it. Picked up a rattle in the "engine" on Tuesday . Got it on my hoist and turns out the noise is from the torque converter.

Flex plate is okay, all bolts are tight so not hitting, the noise is either the converter or trans pump. Got on line and found out that this is a common (and expensive) problem with 700R4's :slap:. If it is not the flex plate, then the converter is the mostly likely suspect. A new TCI converter, 2,000 miles on it.

I'm one of those people who just can't take his car in to a shop to have something like this done. :rant2: It goes against all my years of playing with cars, to have someone else do MY WORK on my toys!!!!! Health is an issue though and precludes me from just diving in and doing the tear down at the moment so it may have to sit for a while if it breaks.

I do happen to have a spare 700R4 and a TH400 in stock, both low low mileage. The one in the car is a heavy duty built for towing trans we had custom done a year ago. I've found out the rebuilder has since retired and moved to who knows where . The other 700 is also a factory HD unit built by GM for towing (3/4 ton truck with tow package), has few miles, out of a wreck. The 400 is out of a '70's wagon with factory tow package. One of those cars I foolishly parted out years ago, a nice driver, but back then it was "just a 1970's Poncho station wagon" :hide:

Once the rain quits I'll take it out and drive it hard for a while and see what happens.

Good thing I've got the Chevelle in stock to keep my old car time up to snuff. I'd hate to get too used to driving new vehicles. Then I'd expect the ride, noise level and fuel economy out of my toys as I do out of the new stuff.

Went to an auction today. Waited all morning for a set of Buick Ralleys for my wagon. $7 lighter in the pocket and headed home with all four wheels. I am very excited as now I have every version of all the options my car came with. Can't wait to get tires on them and make a picture coulage of it with all versions of the rims
