OK I'm in here, my wagon finally got some love today.

I thought I had a vacuum leak because I heard a hissing sound every time I stepped on the brake. Been putting it off no big deal, right?
Yesterday, as the sound seemed to get worse, I realized it wasn't hissing, it was squealing, as in brake pad wear indicator-type squealing. Oops.

So she got new brake pads today. I even took the bus to go get them.

And although it's not a wagon, I replaced the steering linkages on my '96 Caprice 9C1 yesterday. :yup: Finally. Now it just needs ball joints. I hate ball joints. I won't be doing those.

Finally finished the detailing on the wagon. I also just got lucky and got new headlight surrounds, driver side mirror, and hood inserts. One of the "BAD" guys is ruining a perfect 2 door Buick and had no use for mint parts. I scored everything that would fit on my wagon. Below are updated pics of the wagon after polishing the bumpers and installing the NOS grill I scored of ebay for $20

Haven't really posted much about either wagon, but this I am pretty enthused about. My new to me Caprice had a horrible case of spark knock ever since I got in in Oct. I have only been driving it sparingly since Feb. It was driving me nuts that I couldn't remedy it.
In the attempt to cure it, a way too high idle and give it long overdue TLC- I did plugs, cap/rotor and all and the vacuum lines. Original cap/rotor and plugs at 91K, so they were pretty worn.
I found some huge holes in some lines when I did that, so that cured the idle. No change to the spark knock. Checked and set the ignition timing which was about 12 degrees retarded.
Wow- that made it much worse. Hmm. With that new development, I suspected the EGR valve might be sticking shut with what seemed like an intermittent misfire and the pinging- no codes stored in the computer. I had a spare valve sitting around so I cleaned it and the manifold up and put it on. I noticed the old one rattled quite a bit when I took it off, and noticed a crack in the cast iron near the gasket mating surface.
    Problem solved!
Wonder how long the original elderly owner drove it around like that?:slap:

Gave her a routine oil change yesterday. Also the exhaust broke at the y-pipe, so a tie-wire, hose clamp, tin can repair was in order.

Put some steelies on my Roadmaster. Picked them up out of a junkyard a while back, made sure to get some off a 80's GM wagon. Had them sandblasted and painted, put them on today. Put on a set of "Spider Caps" and waiting on some "ribbed" hot rod trim rings... I think it's going to look pretty cool. I'm saving the factory wheels in case I want to get them refurbished in the future...
