    Lol
I can just hear everyone thinking to themselves (in the TV show style voice-in-their-head voice over) I wonder if he installed it backwards...
    :rofl2:

I hate it when this type of thing happens though. I hope it's a simple fix.

I had a similar issue. The small rubber hose from the tank to the steel lines was collapsing inside. Replaced that and it hasn’t been a problem since.
I told a friend about it he had the same problem with his corvette. After replacing his he hasn’t had the problem since.
I know your situation is different but sometimes the fix is simpler than we imagine

Yeah, and I've had similar instances to yours, customer's cars also.

I'm going to put the old filter back in till I can get another new one on payday.

So this morning, I put the old filter back in. I cycled the key, listened to the pump fill and pressurize the system, but, no fire. I put a spark tester on the coil wire, and after one or two flashes, no more flashes. How's that for a 'how do you do?'

that's what happens when you jump to conclusions and throw parts at it.

Always start with the fuel filter I was told. It’s the cheapest part on the car…

Sounds like something my father, a child of the depression, told me. He elaborated a bit by including " start with what you can do with what you have". Helped me more than once when a problem came up on one of my small boats.

Sounds like my dad would say especially when his Ducati was being obstinate.

Alright, so, whatever crapped out is not an obvious thing; OldFox, you are right, no one should diagnose by parts cannon. BUT, one thing I was taught is to go back to what you had before the engine stopped, which is what I did. By doing that, I verified I had fuel to the rail again. Then, my diagnosis was started with "spark, fuel, compression." I know that the engine has a year-old timing chain, so I can rule out a broken/jumped chain or stripped gear. I checked the impedance of the ignition coil, it's a bit low on the secondary winding spec (8.15 k ohm), but primary is .6 ohm. I then put a test light on the #5 injector control side, and no flashy flash. That makes me think the dizzy is in trouble. It ended up hot & humid again, so I'll do the TFI/Hall sensor testing tomorrow morning. Of course, remember that it was running with no discernable problems, and the only work done was the exhaust and fuel filter, nothing else. The pump was cycled five or six times before starting, and the engine ran for 15-20 seconds before it quit, as if someone 'threw a switch.'
