    That’s what she said!

today I took the gas tank out to see what shape it was in. I’ve decided to order a new one.

I had thought I had it clean but took it out to put in a sending unit. Decided on new. I’ve found a new reproduction tank and straps for about $450. With the newly rebuilt Blue Flame and all I think a new one is in order. So we wait…

Ordered a new after market grill for the 85, the only thing the outer shell was good for was to protect the insert what a piece of Chinesium. The insert on the other hand is tolerable and fits the original outer shell but I still had to do a little trimming to get the safety catch release handle to operate smoothly. Here's a pic of the new insert in the car, it makes the front of the car look much nicer.

    Thankfully I didn't marry one.

The old insert is pretty faded and getting a little powdery plus the aluminium strips are pitted and dull.

Put in a new (original) turn signal, getting rid of the previous one that was not original. My first repair on my new wagon! Just got new window sweeps so that's next.

Somewhat. Every search on the internet for "1983 turn signal" brought up the wrong one -- after 1983, GM moved the wiper controls from the dash to the stalk, so 99% of search results pulled up that one. I couldn't even find a picture of the correct one. Eventually I tried searching on "cruise control lever" and that one popped up on eBay, which matched the diagram in the owner's manual.

I cleaned up my wagon and went to a car show the other weekend. It was fun to see and hear many of the stories everyone has about wagons growing up.

I am doing a full refurb on an 86 Parisienne and it's in the body shop now.

I have manager to find everything I need so far except the rear window rubber molding and was curious if anyone has replaced that or know where to find it?

I will post pics in a few weeks when it's out of the body shop.

    Thanks for any help

I have a 1983 Caprice Estate; I assume the 1986 Parisienne used the same part. My rear window sweep is in pretty bad shape:

I looked for a while and found this one last week:
    https://www.steelerubber.com/tailgate-window-felt-80-0804-57

The picture on the website does not look like a direct replacement (particularly with the curves on the end of the original). So I contacted the company to specifically ask if the ends match the OEM part and could they sent me a few more pictures. The reply back was simply "the part you are looking at is the part you need."

So I ordered it anyway since I haven't found any other options. It hasn't been delivered yet. Once it does, I'll post back on how it looks. My wagon is actually at a shop currently for a bunch of needed repairs (that are beyond my mechanical ability and available time/patience to figure out) so once it's back, I'll try installing. I have new window sweeps for all four doors that I am going to be installing, so I figured I might as well do the back one too.

Looking forward to seeing more of your project. I bought this wagon a few weeks ago with the intent of driving it to an event this summer and then turning around and selling it, but starting to think about actually hanging on to it for a while (especially since I am paying the shop about as much as I bought the car for). The body is sound but needs a repaint and new woodgrain. So I am curious what your path has been.
