    Last night we re-installed the sun visors in the Fury. I think they turned out nice.

    Those guages look identicle to those on the Barracuda I once had. It looks like someone riddled you glove compartment door with a machine pellet gun

    When I was about 7 years old the latch began to stick. Sometimes it wouldn't close, so we started kicking it to get it to get it to stay shut. Needless to say the kicks affected the nice stainless panel. That's also why the "F" on the Fury script is caddywhompus.
    Dad was not pleased when he discovered this...

    Because of the pattern left on the panel, you could have told him that mom kicked it with her high heel. That way, there would have been no way possible for him to connect the vandalism to anyone else

    Hopefully the thermostat housing gasket works this time, I did a better job at it than the first time I replaced the thermostat in 2014. I'm waiting at least 16 extra hours for it to cure before I put any antifreeze in.

    It still leaked; turns out the thermostat slipped out when I put it on the last time so it couldn't be sealed. The thermostat's slightly smaller than the housing was made for so I did 2 things:

    1: Put copper wire on one side to hold it;
    2: Put gasket sealer around the circumference of the thermostat and onto the housing (not the engine.)

    Next time, this shouldn't go anywhere while I install it with gasket sealer.

    Side mounted, gravity-prone thermostats. I'm young, I only replaced the thermostat on this car once before and I didn't have this issue the first time. It still leaked slightly that first time, though; only that time, it stopped leaking.

    You could glue the thermostat to the housing, using silicone. It's strong enought to hold the thermostat in place, before you turn the housing upright for mounting.
    Why are you using the wrong sized thermostat?

    Uh, that is what I did (aside from the wire) but thanks.

    As for the slightly smaller thermostat (it's not fitting like a glove but it's not much smaller,) I asked for the correct thermostat for the vehicle and that's what they sold. I went to another store to recently to check if there was a better thermostat and that one was the same darn size (though it felt like the metal was stronger than the one I have.) I guess companies just want to make it cheaper to save a fraction of a cent on manufacturing.

    What they might have done was to sell metric-sized thermostats which are close to domestic sizes :huh:

    Maybe so.

    I put the housing on again, hopefully for the last time since the thermostat was glued on first.

    On the 99 Suburban Diesel, I tried flushing air out of the system. The old filter leaked out the top when I set it to "Run" so I got another filter.

    I fired the wagon up today and took it for a run around the block. First time this spring since the end of October. It sure felt good going through the gears. The car scene is starting up for the year here now finally.:dancingpa:

    Today I got my front tires back on and started putting the exhaust back on the Caprice. Also dropped the fuel tank for the third time and put a good quality fuel sending unit. Was able to start it for the first time this year.

    Turning wrenches on big trucks all week kills any desire to work on things during my off time so I'm pretty slow, lol.

    Yeah, I felt the same way, just as a standard car/truck tech, unless it HAD to be done. Now I have all the time in the world, but just doing a tune and oil change racked my worn-out feet, ankles and knees; spent the better part of today in bed till about 4 pm.
