Today I drove my wagon 200 miles, garnering eight thumbs-ups. Plus the windshield wipers actually turned off this time. :)

It's nice when something actually stops performing when you tell it to.

If it intermitendly stops though, sometimes a whack will get it going again

Last time I drove it while raining, they wouldn't turn off. I had to remove the power harness from them. I ended up adjusting the clocking of the "rest" switch, if that makes sense. As Silver said, it *IS* nice when something actually stops performing when you tell it to.

I haven't done a thing to my Catalina in over 3 years and it really pisses me off. Too many other distractions and projects, as well as the weather seem to get in the way.

Yeah, Grizz will surely take Oldfox's mind off all distractions and weather, by putting him to work getting the old heap '54 Poncho running. If that isn't Rehab, what izz?

Wow! You were driving around with 5 blown fuses? I didn't think these things were possible. There must have been reasons as to why these fuses blew. They just don't do so for the heck of it

Fuses were 6amp windshield wiper; 15 amp dashboard lights; 15 amp courtesy lamps; 15 amp radio & 20 amp cig lighter there are 3 of these in the Colony Park. best guess is that whoever installed the radio did it wrong because the wire from the fuse box to the radio was fried and blew the radio fuse and burnt the fuse connection. so entire fuse box had to be replaced.

Yeah, the temptation of using auxiliary circuits for a booming system is too great in older cars. Otherwise, look to see if a kid put a penny in one of those sockets, or that the lighter had jammed in one. Found that on my CP a looooonggg time ago.

Ater messing yet again, yesterday, with the auxiliary fuel tank I parked the wagon in its garage. While raising the tailgate window I heard the tell tale crunch crunch crunch while the window went no where. Guess what I'm doing today, along with a new master cylinder and finishing the fuel tank sending unit? Third time hopefully will be the charm on that tank.

    Ok another round of repairs.

I fixed the tailgate window gear with JB weld after cleaning all the grease out. All I want to say is why doesn't Ford motor company like their mechanics? What a pain to pull the rear window motor and reinstall. I tried everything not to drill any holes in the inner tailgate but in the end I gave up and drilled one. Once I had the first screw started it became much easier but still.... While I had the panel off I greased the window mechanism with waterproof stuff and sprayed some penetrating oil into the door seams. No rust but it reactivates the old oil and tare like undercoating.

I changed the master cylinder and again what's wrong with Ford? I couldn't break the master free of the hydroboost. There was two bits holding it on on the drivers side and the brake line clip that was under the nut was heading the second one, unreal. I used a hand vacuum pump to bleed the system and it works perfect now. The master was leaking slightly out the back seal so it was time to go. I bought all new wheel cylinders, calipers and flex lines to do when the current pads and shoes wear out.

The auxiliary fuel tank has a new float (third attempt) but it isnt quite stronger enough to fully lift the arms float arms. Round four will be coming. I have no smell of gas in the car while driving. Open the windows and it's like it's being poured on the floors inside. It is coming from inside.
