That's right. So now, the auestion is whether he disconnected the battery or it went dead by itself; either case means the computer's idle learn is gone, and it needs to relearn. Also, IIRC, it had a vacuum leak, and that can fool the computer and IAC.

 

It seems, all that wagon has ever learned is to be stubborn. It just won't go away.
It looks like Grizz has been doomed to having adopted a bratty kid on four wheels which will never grow up and move out

 

Yes, the battery was completely dead. Your right I did replace the IAC, sometime ago in Pigeon Forge when that dip Bruce wasted my time and $$ that turned out to be a blessing. (Thanks Bruce!) I haven’t driven it since, and then I didn’t drive it but around the block. The car sort of choked out, no surge or anything. Once driving and giving it gas it did fine. I believe I fixed the vacuum leaks a while back, I think the pcv, line was soft?

haha. I’ve got two bratty kids who need to grow up and move out so I can spend more time with my 2 and 4 wheeled kids who do nothing but sit quietly and look pretty.

I took the Fury to a local shop to have some suspension dodads installed.



Then I decided it was time to replace the tires, which were on the wheels when I bought them 7 or 8 years ago.
Not the best photo, but the new shoes are a little larger than what was on there before. I like the way they fill up the wheel wells better than the old ones.

 

Pulling a few details, I added ATF and drove 45 miles in it today. I also checked the temperature at the thermostat with a heat gun and it was at full temperature; it's just the temperature gauge that's not reading. The odometer's still broken, too. No drips from the dipstick tube or transmission pan, thankfully.

 

That wagon looks KILLER!!!! Love it!!!

 

Hey, Jeremiah, what size are those tires? A friend of mine is offering .e a set of 235/55/18s for Babe, and I wanted to know if you were running a close size to them.

I'll have to go out and check Andrew, can't remember off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure the wheels are 17"
Is your friend going to give them to you? I'd say take em and then go from there.

Today I panicked when the rear drums were more or less locking up; it made the car difficult to accelerate and if I used the brakes, the car would rumble. At first I thought it was the transmission; I just changed the ATF. I later realized what was happening; I've had this problem several times before.

Why on earth are the drum brakes occasionally tightening themselves too much? Did I just press the brake too hard? This tends to happen if I do that.

 

It could be that the self-adjustment mechanism threads have worn out. I'd suspect a weak return spring, had both drums not locked up simultaneously
