    New axels...almost

Hubby took Lil Sis to the garage to have the new axels put on but as usual it can't go easily, the axels are the wrong ones. Car Quest were awesome though, they exchanged them for the (hopefully) right ones after they were purchased last November. Turns out there are four different size axels for a four speed transmission. So hubby has to go pick them up tomorrow.

You were lucky to find a nice dealership. So what's wrong with the old axels? They rarely go bad unless the vehicle has a high HP engine and is raced. Are you running Lil sis down the drag strip secretly?

No secret stripping going on over here.

The old, original axels are worn out and we feel they may be the cause of the KA-LUNK from last summer.

Oh! Forgot about the KA-LUNK. I read about that in one of the auto shop books. Very typical in those cars.
As for the stripping, I think your involvement in that flaunting and flashing car show is getting to you.
I wrote about driving down a drag strip. Which has nothing to do with dressing in drag or removing clothing.

    little at a time

As the 57 has been sitting many years, I am going through the cooling system. Last sunday, had a little bit of time so I went down to the garage to piddle as I call it. I had been planning on taking out the block plugs so that I can flush it (sbc), I had heard horror storys about removing them and just getting to them, but rolled under the car, zip zip with 9/16 and a breaker bar and they are out, cleaned and ready for paint. Hope to have time next weekend to actually flush the block and install some new parts.

I put new tires and Ralley wheels on my '73. Also fixed the wiper transmission since it jammed - the rubber boot came off and some idiot had monkeyed with it over the years to get it stuck. I reset it all and now the wipers park properly and even work like they should.

Well not really "to our wagon" more with our wagon. Used it to haul an Old Smith Sunglasses Display Case home for my Wife so she can Store/Display her old Film Camera Collection, and get it off our spare bed!!!!!
So while traveling south on US-23 north of Ann Arbor doing my usual few MPH over the legal limit when I was supized to be passed by a very nice 77-79 4-door Pontiac Pariesian? with Ontario plates. Passed me like I was standing still. Driven by a Older Couple. I bet no one on the road around us would believe we didn't know each other. Thumbs Up all around!!!
I also couldn't resist buying the still in the Box and working well A/C Delco Freedom II Battery AM/FM Radio the seller of the Display case also had.
So I guess you could say a Bought a new Battery for the Catalina!!!!! LOL

Thanks Jeff. I've got several old cameras, even Polaroids, stashed away. Might keep my eyes open after moving for something like that case.
    Like the battery.

Beautiful! Those wheels were used in the big cars, as well. Love them.

The Fox platform cars that didn't have power steering, like my dad's '78 Fairmont, had a larger-diameter wheel with a small round center. One time, my oldest brother was driving and wasn't used to the horn on the end so when he had to honk at another car, he smacked the horn center, breaking it! I had to explain to him about the turn signal stalk! Dad was not exactly amused. Later, when I got the car, I found another center to replace it.

New axles and front brakes are on Lil Sis(finally) and she is home in the driveway...:yippee:

The parts store got the parts wrong (3 times) so we had to make extra trips into town, about 20 minutes each way AND had to pay extra labour at the garage because they had taken the car apart a few times without being able to fix it...rrr!

However, I took her for a short drive after I picked her up and she seems to driving great. :)
