Good luck. After rebuilding his sugared 350 carburated 1985 Chevy truck engine twice son went to U-Pull-It for a half price sale. Got a 1993 TP 350 out of a Chevy van. Spent Saturday taking it out, Saturday evening pulling his old engine, Sunday putting the TBI engine back in.
He had to work late all week so just got it running Thursday evening. With high pressure pump, computer, wiring, etc. he says he has around $300 total in this 93 engine. This is cheaper than another rebuild or a new carburator!
I was shocked he bought a 220,000 mile engine but that's all there was. Apparently it was rebuilt or very well cared for. Starts instantly and runs like a striped *** ape with the heavy five speed he'd already added. Great oil pressure and temp is great.
Part of his costs were a later flywheel, pilot bearing, and electric fuel pump. So you should be pleased with your swap. !

I bought a beat up 3/4 ton Chevy non window van for the rebuilt 350/350. Supposedly around 25,000 miles on it. Paid $500. Talked to the shop that built the engine. He said more like 50,000 miles and it's a 305 with a bad head.
Oh well. Replaced the head and been driving it in my 55 Chevy wagon for years.
Many seem to think 100,000 is low mileage.:slap: Of course son just put a 350 TBI in his truck with 220,000 and it runs great.:slap:

I just got my car back from the shop for having the carb rebuilt and the TPS replaced. I had been getting an error code for the TPS for a while now, and my MPG was extremely low.

Now that I have a new sensor, I'm very excited to see what my MPG is like.

I just re-installed the windshield and rear glass; installed the glove box door; prepped the interior for installation of new carpet, kick panels, etc. that should arrive this week.

Sadly, the 1985 Dodge Aries has a slipping clutch and a cracked head, good news is that I am going to save this car anyway. In the shop as I type this. Also got the power brake booster replaced on the 1973 Ford Wagon.

After I got the carb rebuilt, I took it over to a transmission place to see about getting the front seal replaced, since it had been leaking.
They said that since they would have to drop the transmission to do it, I might as well have the thing rebuilt as well.
I'm glad I did too. I guess I had 6 pan bolts that were stripped, and one that was broken off.
Even with the machine work, the whole rebuild cost me $1100, and the guy said it needed it.

I got some engine oil for the Mercury yesterday; It's the conventional Pennzoil 5w30 High Mileage type. I already have the filter which is a 5,000 mile FRAM type. :)

I also got the same oil and a filter for the Caprice sedan. But, that's not a Wagon.

I changed the engine oil and filter in the 1990 Mercury Grand Marquis. As it turns out this car has two drain plugs and I drained both. When I loosened the sub-bolt (the higher-up bolt) a little brownish water came out (far less than an ounce) so now I wonder if at least a little bit of antifreeze is getting into the crankcase. I also added antifreeze as it was low in the excess reservoir, and I wonder if it's my imagination or if the car uses up a little bit too much antifreeze. I also need to replace the thermostat with a non-failsafe one since the heater opens up at 193 F and the failsafe stays open permanently at 192 F, AutoZone computer recommendations be forgotten in this case.

I should flush the brake fluid; it's black. The previous owner took wonderful care of the car cosmetically, though.
