Wiggling the sockets fixed it? Sounds like a British car, not Swedish...

I can just see the instruction in a British owner's manual..."grasp the socket in a firm manner and wiggle vigorously..."

Can you tell I owned an MG years ago...?

--------- Thanks for asking young man. Get-er-done Tuesday. They will reach in with a couple of probes and a camera and use vicegrips or something to remove the old lens in bottom of eyeball. Sounds exciting. Then right after will install a brand new lens. Sounds like something a couple of car guys could do in ten minutes but will take 2 1/2 to 3 hours in hospital. Glad I won't be there to see this........ Well, I will be there, but piecefully sleepin like a baby!:29: If all goes well I will actually be able to see what I am typing again.----I guess I can sneak this in here. It has nothing to do with my wagon. But that's all I'm gettin done. Hopefully I will once again get something wagon related done! Just hope there is no wiggling being done while they are in my eyeball!

Also pulled the A/C compressor fuse for the winter, and gave the wagon a quick wash. :)

pulled the A/C compressor fuse for the winter Why do that? Just don't turn on the AC! Actually you are supposed to cycle it every month or so during winter. We don't have that problem here. Besides, the way I understand modern defrosters use AC to defrost................ But I don't know. I'm not up on modern!:whew:

-------- I don't think so. But I've had so many tests I'm not sure any more. Hard to believe it's been 3 1/2 month since the eye accident. Almost told them forget the surgery. Next part is worse and scarier! Socket repair. (Not on an MG) :) But right now I'm afraid to lay under a dash or under a vehicle with one eye. Like they say, take care of those things. They come in handy!:49:

what I have done in the last month

Installed tubular upper and lower control arms to accommodate big wheels and fat tires, recalibrated TH200-4R to work with Holley carburator, installed new electric lockup torque convertor.

Mechanicals all done; now just some final tweaking and she's ready for show and maybe a power cruise next summer.

----------- I like the 200R4 with the torque converter kick in better than any other set up I've had. It is smooth and gets the 305 in the 20's MPG. I even have a tiny green LED that comes on when converter kicks in. I put it where the old oil lite was. When we get Dakota Digital dash in I'm not sure where I'll stick that light!:disagree: I run an Edelbrock 650 and high geared rear end Camaro rear. !---------Not fast on take off but i'm not either anymore.--------------Thanks everyone who has commented about my eye accident.

    Good question.

On my Subaru, the compressor does come on when I use the defroster or defrost/heat mix (and of course when I use the a/c).

Problem is, my engine puts out less than 90 horsepower on a good day, so with the compressor running it makes my wagon extra slow and of course I lose a few mpg (I get around 26 mpg in summer, and 28-29 mpg in winter with no fuse).

In the Summer, I don't mind so much when it's 100 degrees out, having ice cold AC is worth it to me. :whew:

But in the winter, not so much.

I'd rather keep the few extra horsepower and get back the 2-3 extra miles per gallon as well.

So being the miser that I am, yeah, I pull the fuse.

Oh, good point about cycling the compressor. I do plan to slip the fuse back in for a few minutes at least once or twice over the season whenever I'm under the hood for some maintenance or repair, such as an oil change or worn belt or something (yes, there's always SOMETHING). :)

And my best wishes for your eye to be on the mend soon. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

Thanks dogbone. I don't blame you for pulling the AC fuse if you get that much better MPG. I'd be tempted to leave it out all summer and roll down the windows! Sadly most of our newer stuff has no vent windows and makes noise with windows down so we must run AC or heat all the time. Even that thing about turning AC on a few times in winter makes me wonder. In Illinois I never did. We were more concerned about melting ice and getting warm. Everything seemed to work the next summer.
