    Willys, LOVE your Olds.
A while back, I replaced the 2 stock rectangular rally guages in my '87 Fiero with three round Autometer dials: Oil press, Amps, and Air /Fuel mixture.
I found a peice of laminated plastic/brushed aluminum sheet at Skycraft here in Winter Park that matched the GM dash perfectly.
Today, I replaced the brake master cylinder on the '77 Estate Wagon , but didn't have enough brake fluid to do a full flush. I'll do that when I raise the car to replace the rear tranny seal and change the tranny filter.
I wanted to replace the rear shocks, but a couple of the hard to reach upper mounting bolts were stuck, so I shot them with PB Blaster, and I'll get 'em when the car is jacked up for the trans service.
I removed the trailer hitch. Its ugly, heavy, rusty, and I don't need it.

    what have I done ?!?

Sad to say, since I have no wagon at present, I haven't been doing anything. Am on the lookout and the prowl, however. Should have another soon.

Thanks Pinebox. What is Skycraft? I'm guessing an aircraft supply house. Got a picture of your gauges? Sounds like, once your wagon's in the air, you have enough to keep you busy for a while. My Vista also has a trailer hitch. I debated about removing it but, since I lowered the car, it offers good protection for the gas tank so, it stays for now. Mike

Skycraft is a surplus store, and much much more.
This geeky palace has everything from stainless steel screws to lightbulbs to LEDs to motors to capicitors to tools to sheets of aluminum or brass, to nylon rods to.....
Well, if you ever visit the area, you'll have to see it for yourself.:thumbs2:
You can order online, but thats no fun.

Oh, and the trailer hitch scrapes when I back out of a steep driveway.

Thanks for the tip about Skycraft. I love places like that. I'm thinking there's a day trip in my future...:) Oh yeah, my hitch drags on steep driveways too but, better that than my gas tank.

These were used on V6 Fieros from 1986 thru the bitter end in mid 1988, and other Pontiac cars, too.

Nice! That's a real improvement. I never was much of a square/rectangular gauge fan. Good luck with your projects.

Well finally got my wiring cleaned up.. dash lights working, 3-gauge setup working and lit, my 3rd brake light works, all other lights.. check. Drove it out of the shop for the first time since engine transplant.. drove it down the street and back. Did real well.. still need to fix brakes. Did notice speedo not working.. sigh.. here we go again. New cable installed but nothing. Could be stripped speedo gear in trans.. won't mess with it for now..

New project: Rip out existing, crappy wiper setup. Install a new aftermarket 2 speed electric setup.. should be a pain..! Looking forward to it.. LOL.

Now that looks like a fun ride. And you don't seem to see a lot of 58's still running around. That first drive is always a thrill and seems to help keep the motivation level high. Nice job man. Hope you'll post more as you go. Mike

Speedo gear is an easy fix.
Loosn'ng up a froze speedo head a whole 'nother thing.
And I haven't got mine working just yet for just that reason.

But, had to put in a new starter in the Surf Rat last Tuesday. Never had a Ford that fired up so easy!

Got to cruise in the country yesterday evening. Drove the wagon out to my daughters place for dinner and visit with my little granddaughter.

Years ago my wife hollers "hey, there's car blood coming out of my Corvette"!!! I'd hit something on the way home the night before and turns out I'd punched a hole in the tranny pan. What a mess. Turbo 400 almost completely dry and a big puddle on the driveway so I can relate and sympathize with you 57WM. :rofl2:
