Just finished dying my dash pad. A thorough cleaning with simple green, three rinses with clean water and a quick wipe-down with lacquer thinner made sure the surface was prepped.

I used SEM Color Coat Landau Black and it turned out beautiful. I bought three cans to make sure I would have enough since it was original a metallic teal, but it ended up taking less than one can for 3-4 coats top and bottom.

Tomorrow I'm off to buy a ton of rubber hose to replace all of the hoses used on the power locks before starting the installation.

Installed new rear springs today. I've known they were needed since I bought it, it has just been a low priority since it is driving anywhere. Got tired of moving them around the office while leaning this afternoon and solved two problems at once.

I'm driving and smoke starts spewing from under the hood. I open the hood gingerly but no fire. It's oil on the exhaust. I start the car and can see the oil sending unit leaking a gusher. I get a new unit and try to get the special socket but the parts guy says a regular socket will fit and it does. The old one would not take any socket I had, 6 or 12 point. I put a vicegrip on it and turned the vicegrip with a screwdriver. Luckily it broke loose and turned out, one 1/4turn at a time. The new one took a 1 1/16 socket and turned in tight. As long as I was back there I snipped vacuum line ends that were loose. The sending unit was easy to see and replace. I carry a comprehensive tool set with me.:floor_jack:

    Rescue

Rescued it yesterday! Now sitting at Tech School waiting for them to get to it. Gave up on the 360 idea. Brackets are ½ missing & ½ on the little Pigg's 360 in its Eagle. 'Not bolted down, just sitting in it. I can't pull it out because I have a bad back. I need ½ a day & a couple strong backs & firm dry ground itd be no problem'. My buddy that went with me to help yesterday has a bad back, but has his own shop. Does his own repairs, & doesn't keep stuff forever, taking parts off. He doesn't use other peoples parts to 'test fit' in his own vehicle before trying it the customers vehicles. Strange, for some reason he has more jobs than he can handle. Great job power washing the bird 5h1trolet off & airing up the tires too. That flat black paint sure shines, almost loos like gloss & those tires, bet if you tried to add one more pound, they'd pop. Oh yeah, you did have your 'helper' try to air up ONE tire while we were loading it as you stood there & told him how.

Thanks all. Sadly, even a bath isn't gonna do much for that flat black paint. Supposed to get about 8 inches of that white sHtuff here (St. Louse area). Maybe that'll at least get some of the bird 5h1trolet off it. Tried jumping it yesterday, no luck. Not a big surprise, but I had to try.

Need some advice, the rear leaf springs on Annie's '68 Falcon wagon are sagging, I need to do something temporary until I can afford new springs.
The options seem to be coils over shocks or air shocks, is there anything else?

Had to re-do my motor mounts.. engine was sitting to high. Finished welding those up then mounted my aluminum radiator, attached fan, pulley's etc. and engine compartment is done. Now I have a few adjustments to make to the transmission and then I'll finish up some wiring. Goal is May 27th to have this on the road.. so I'm staying focused.
