In 1955 the v8 engines were orange. In 1956, for one year only, they were painted red, then back to orange.

The six cylinders were blue. There is a massive argument that some of the six cylinders were green. Some say they were originally, some say they weren't originally. The confusion continues.

Went to corporate blue in '77, corporate black late in the '82 model run.

I have a '66 292 six that is dark green and had a '65 292 six that was dark green. The 250's were moly orange in the cars and trucks in the mid 60's

So would Pontiac be the same color? Orange for mid 60's?

No. Pontiac used a baby blue/turquoise color in the to the mid 60's, then a metalic light blue until the corporate blue in '77.

Fannie, your Beaumont would have a Chevy engine in it, not a Pontiac, so it would have been painted Chevy blue.

As an aside, the orange on General Lee in the original Dukes of Hazzard was painted Chevy engine orange When they were doing up the first car, the designers were looking around the shop for a paint that a beack-country garage would naturally have kicking around, and that is what they settled on. That it happened to look great on screen was sort of a bonus.

The metallic silver blue started in 1966.

After fixing my factory clock and changing the "OIL" indicator label in the speedo to "BRAKE" as I put the dash pad back on I broke the original (and totally dried out) speaker. I replaced it with an updated technology, yet stock fitting speaker from Electro-Tech Services. Greg is a cool guy.

The original am/fm radio sounds awesome with the front/rear speakers.

    I repaired my headlight-height regulator

Here in Germany, cars are sold with mandatory headlight aim mechanisms which adjust the beam angle according to how much the vehicle leans when loaded.
I replaced the defective motor with a 12 volt type from some cassette recorder or other gadget. It was quite a tight fit, since both motors are somewhat different. Therefore, I had to somehow mount the replacement motor outside of the black housing:

It's been a while since I posted, and sadly, I haven't gotten very far with the 59. I made the mistake of buying an 84 Grand Wagoneer, and I have been focusing all of my attention on that beast. I finally have the Wagoneer running, and it is my daily driver, so I am finally able to put some time (and money) into the ranch wagon. I rebuilt the entire 292 y block, and I just treated myself to a three deuce setup. I hope to have the setup installed by the end of this coming weekend. We shall see...!

I attached some pictures to show where I am at and what I am installing.

Is your 2 bbl a Holley or did AMC use Autolite carbs? Both look interchangable and look identicle, when not viewing close up

Struggling with going to the big swap meet this weekend (pre-spring opener) or working on my wagon all day Saturday and making more progress... I believe I'll stay put and continue working on my wagon. My goal is to have it road ready by May (my B-day).. so it's tunnel vision and moving forward. Don't need to spend the day looking at parts.. although it is one of my most favorite things to do.. no.. priorities rule this weekend.

Just wanted to share.. besides.. I just restocked my beer fridge.. so all is good. :drink:
