I completely agree. The states wanted to seceed because of rights, not slavery or anything else. And bottom line, as wrong as slavery was and is, it would have went away as we have evolved and with the invention of the cotton gin, slavery would have faded. But bottom line is that governing should be more up to the state, with a simple guidline or two from the federal government. Maybe I'm biased, my brother and sister's names are Robert Lee and Dixie and this stuff has been pounded into my head since I was a youngster.

Both parties need abolished and a new party, run by "WE THE PEOPLE" where we actually have a right and say in everything that goes on. We get to vote on EVERYTHING that happens and it is approved by a majority vote. No single power, no single voice, except the single voice of the people spoken by the people. That is what I see as a true free country, a country to be proud to say I live in and would be more then willing to die for. But what we have right now? Nah, what we have right now can kiss my ass as I am boarding the one way flight outta here. I love my country for what it once was and what it once stood for. I love my country for it is home to my family and friends. But I hate what we have become and what we will soon be.

Norm, I have no doubts about anything you claim, you would be hard to find a country more full of lazy, hating and loud mouth complainers then what we have here in the States. The Philippines is another country that is passionate about their home and history. Here, we have alot of blowhard "Die Hard Americans" that will talk sh*t till their breath stinks of it, but when needed to act, they shut right up and cower in the corners.

Recently in Mexico, the Federal Education secretariat issued the new Primary school History books. No reference to the various revolutions. People were pi$$ed!

Can't we just enjoy the differences? Bob Hope did how many Road-To shows with Bing Crosby, Sinatra, etc. and we look back on his career with awe and honor. He made these countries seem mystical, friendly and intriguing. Here they are now, fighting to keep their cultures and resources, and traditions (which we're told are bad, undemocratic and unacceptable - to us). Funny, they managed quite well for thousands of years. But they've got Copper, Oil and Gas for our stock brokers (who just drove our economies into a deep recession) happiness.

You blow up a $250,000 cluster bomb, and you get nothing in return. You build a $250,000 home and 8 or 9 guys earned an income for their families, bought cars and fuel and paid their bills.

 

We're heading down the socialism road fast. The gov't has their hands in the cookie jar on everything with these bailouts! If they want to save industries such as the auto industry, get rid of all the regulations. You know how cheap your car would be to buy if it didn't have to be made of plastic, and have air bags, and computers, and fuel injection and all that BS that goes into a new car? That should be optional, build a boxy, base sedan with no bells and whistles. It would be cheap and I bet it would fly off the shelves. Also, get the Unions in check! The UAW is no help, a good portion of that sticker price is going to pension funds and raises, that are no longer about keeping workers equal. They promote seniority, not quality. Like communism, they're only working in theory.

Frankly, Uncle Sam is supposed to be looking over things and watching to make sure that people are being given their basic rights, not being active in everything they're doing.

How much do you want to bet, that even if everyone in the country did not vote on election day, they would still show the same bogus 47% to 53% vote rate. Just look at all the missing votes from the Bush elections, BOTH OF THEM, and he still won!! It has been a long long LOOOOOOOONG time since our votes ment a damn thing other then to keep the sheep happy or give them something to complain about.

Yes, we need a house cleaning, and it is done with cleaning agent consisting of lead and a large caliber high pressure hose with a trigger style mechanism and a scope. Then a final wash to clear up the entire area using a heavy dose of 97 octane and a well placed match.

norm, when i was in college i was in class with a girl from mexico D.F. she and i talkied a lot and studied together a lot. (she spoke perfect english)
her and i talked about the immigration issue. she told me that a lot of the people who come into the usa illegallly are NOT the people we want. usually criminals and gang memebers. having been to mexico myself, i can say that i love the culture. I drove around the island of cozumel on a scooter ( i am not a big drinker so i tend to stay away from party spots) and i found most of the people very very courteous and cautious. espescially when driving. also if we adopted their way of working traffic lights(green-flashing green-yellow-red ) we would have less accidents.
i dove garden reef with a couple of mexican country boys...despite the language barrier ...we had a great time. anyway, regaurdess of reason....they need to come into our country legally! my grandfather took 3 yrs to come over from reggiano italy.

I need to have some bumper stickers made up that say "Welcome to the USSA" United States of Socialist America. This town I sadly live in, is turning communist as well and I need another sticker that says "I live in the Communist Wealth or Findley Lake, NY". Before I move to the Philippines in 5 years or so, we are moving to Eastern Ohio, probably Andover area. We have a guy begging us to come work there and the boss wants to sell off the restaurant and set up shop down there, asked us to come along and I said, I need 1 day notice to pack up and its Wagons West. I want to get out of the construction garbage and back into body work, possibly open up a small shop on the property we buy and do private work, customs and resto's. I will kee this place and do a land contract on it, to help pay the bills elsewhere.

Ian, I agree with you about the Illegals. The mistake in Mexico, is they don't want change their wage structures. The rich Mexican establishment likes the way things are. They make their deals with Foreign industry and deal away wages and benefits. Their weak play, in this North American Union game, is that they feed National pride and pride in their culture to offset the misery they force on Mexicans and they don't dare stop it, or Mexicans will catch on and stir it up. This war on drugs is bloody and messy down there, and people accept it as a necessary evil. The State is protecting their families and children. But if they try to rip their love of their country, culture and traditions in two generations, the Government of the day won't survive.

You probably noted how much the National card is played in Mexico by Politicians when they're in hotwater. Salinas ripped off some $130 million and ran to Europe. They let him back in and jailed his brother and put Salinas (Mexican President until 1995) under House arrest. Nobody had the balls to demand restitution though. They spun it as the international shame it would cause if they dragged in other nations to help them solve the money trail puzzle. Salinas still has the money in Europe. Slick, eh?

The piper wants his dues. If a Mexican government tries to dump this NA Union on Mexicans, it'll make their current War on Drugs look like a military simulation exercise.
