I wasn't there, but I refuse to let go of the 1950's mentality. Refuse to.

    50's mentality ?

----So that's what I've got! Wondered if I was mental or not. For us, we are like those songs and early sayings---we never left the 50's. It was good to us and I get scared in today's world!

Amen. I'm young but I am not like most my age... Nor is my wife. And we had never known freedom like the freedom we had when we had our old 1984 Black Mercury Marquis Wagon. I have never cried so hard for any car and before that car my wife had never cried for a car at all... Thank You all. Your posts have made me feel like I'm not insane... We all are sane and the rest of the world is crazy... Someday I will rejoin you in wagon ownership and I will drive it proudly.

Growing up,my dad had a VW squareback for a short time.
I always liked wagons and I dont know why.I am a car nut in general.
I have had some really cool cars over the years but non have recieved the attention my Waygun gets.
That is ironic and funny since I paid very little to buy and repair the wagon.
Other cars i had I spent 20k on restorations, etc and people just walk on by.

Everybody loves the Waygun. That give me a big ego boost and makes me proud to own such a fine piece of automotive history
I have to add extra time everywhere I go since the wagon draws out the flood of memories from total strangers.
Kids who were never born when the last domestic wagon was built are blown away by the two way tailgate.

To me,my wagon is a time capsule that represent a time where people were approachable..
I am not the owner of the wagon--I am its caretaker of an automotive icon that is long gone.

Mike, that prose is worthy of being in print somewhere. Maybe a 'forward' for the next wagon book that comes along. Wonderful. You said it far better than I could.

    VW Squareback

I also had a VW squareback for a short time. Which was too long! :( I owned several Beatles before that and they were nice little cars. Even an old split rear window VW.:bouncy:

    To Me.....

To me having my wagon is like having a bit of history. I am the proud owner of a vintage family "WUV" Wagon Utility Vehicle. I can put a full sheet of plywood in Gertie, while carrying my baby, wife and dogs. I know of no other car that has a tailgate or a taildoor your choice. I am the happy owner of a Wagon.
I get 18+mpg and can still tow an Airstream. I am relatively new to the WUV world but I plan on staying here for a long time. My wife does not particularly care for Gertie, but she will come around. We also have a Forester but I am not sure of the legitimacy of its Station Wagonness. To me having a wagon is to be a sort of quirky individual that sticks our noses to mainstream driving to enjoy the true classiness and happiness that you get from driving a classic Station Wagon. For now that is all I can think of. Happiness is a WUV

Hey, Rev...the question was....what a wagon means to ME.
I can only address that. I don't know how the rest of the people in the world feel about them. I looked up Bangladesh and Micronesia but found no info on how the people felt about station wagons. :rofl2:

Hey...thanks to those who complimented my comments on what a wagon means to me. I appreciate them. I'm not a great writer but the subject does mean a lot to me. I'm hoping to see more and more answers from other members!
