I'm just looking at the Munroe line. They've got a Max Lift - gas filled and a Max Air for the Fairmont Wagon. The Max Air has adjustable regular air (from a regular air pump), but you can't control the entry of humid air, which means the shocks would die earlier. I recall the 1958 Caddies had their own compressors on board to control the Air Shocks and Air Springs. That way you'd be able to control the air-input quality.

Maybe I could reconfigure my AC compressor to a regular one. I took all the AC out except for the Heater system. The I6 unit sits different than the V8 (Factory stock system), and the other car didn't have it, so I pulled it, the condenser, the wiring. But I kept the whole system parts that I wasn't using. The vacuum canister and vent controls stayed as well as the main dash control (made a few small mods).

Good Idea and I bet you can buy the air bags from Firestone and make your own brackets lines, tank, and controller. I know you can buy a kit from Air Ride systems and they are expensive. but with a custom one that you design for your car will be a plus. and you can use it on all 4 corners if you want.

Yeah, I'll have to find out how to modify the AC compressor. Mine have another year or two at least, but when we came up, the Safety Certifier made me take the rubbers out at the back, but he never said 'boo' about the broken front coils. Now, the Province wants to impose inspections at least yearly on cars older than 1980. So with these bad babies and my own air source, they'd have to bite the bullet! It's only for the back. They don't offer them for the front strut shocks.

Did you know that the older (1960's) French Citroen allowed you to lift one wheel to change a flat? They were air shock/springs/bags. They didn't need a mechanical jack. Pretty neat, eh?:D

They look like a dog trying to scratch his belly with a hind leg, when they're up like that.

There's lots of old senior ladies around here and they always 'shock' me into helping them out, so I'll pass on the airbags. Especially when they let a 'fluffy one' fly!!!:rofl2:

The real airbags aren't available for the Fairmont wagons. So if one broke down, I'll be SOL on the roadside. With the Air Shocks, Munroe is all over the place. Minute Muffler, Speedy... etc.

Them's are BIG uns! Built forever! I use the trailer for drywall, lumber and top soil (every other year). The rest of the time its a cruisin' machine, sight-seeing, car-spotting, or just taking shots of the endless grain fields.

But that compressor on the car would be a big help. We get so cold here some days that your tires are almost flat from leaking air. Even new ones. I can see quite a few uses around the house for quick jobs too. I rarely need air tools, but it's nice to have the option.:)

Being a new guy here, I only just saw your videos recently, totally awesome.
I would love to do with my Fairmont what you're doing with your car. (y)

Who stuck their head out that far to get that beautiful animal's wet nose routine. Dogs and car windows... and they always snot in the wind without splashing their faces. Never could master that even as a snot-nosed kid! :1st: :D
