Last month, we drove a friend and her 7 and 12 year old daughters to the Parkette Drive-In restaurant in our 1955 Chevy wagon. I shut the engine off and the 12 year old asked to roll the window down. I told her to just crank the handle. She said "Cool! The car doesn't have to be on to work the windows!"

Well it didn't happen to me, as this isn't my wagon.
This pretty 69 Town and Country wagon showed up at today's local cruise-in at the Burger King in Manassas, Virginia. I overheard someone say, "You could put a casket in there! This reminds me of a hearse I once had."

Not necessarly a comment but today I did drive by a 1960s Plymouth Roadrunner on the road today. I dont know Mopars, im still leaning the whole Chrysler glory days things so I dont know what year he had.

The guy slowed down to look at my front end and then at the rear of my Monaco. Hed never seen one before. You could just tell by the " What the hell is that thing " look on his face. This was on Highway 880 going through Oakland on the way to San Francisco just a few miles from the Bay Bridge toll plaza. We were nose to nose for a good 5 minutes.

When my kids were in high school we were home schooling them, but they went to the local high school for drivers ed, (augmented with training by yours truly, of course!).
My daughters class was the last period so when I would pick her up, school would be letting out. Several times I picked her up in the 4X4 Quadravan pictured to the right, below.

But one time I picked her up in the 87 Taurus Wagon pictured here:

One of her cassmates asked her,"Don't your parents have any regular cars?"

    :D

Yeah, i've seen that wagon before. I love it.
I painted the Taurus just before the Viper came out blue with white stripes. People would say, "oh, you painted it like a Viper." I'd tell them ,"no. The Viper was painted like my wagon!"
Actually I was thinking of the Cobra Daytona when I painted it. The radiator wall, fire wall, and the underside of the hood were all painted blue and have the stripes on them, too!
