    the things that people say

    About my 77 Aspenwagon,"Mr. Gwinn!..Your car!!. It's so HUUUUUUGE!!!"
Also about my 77 Aspenwagon, while me and my son(who was five or so,at the time)were washing it on the street in front of our house. A neighbour, with his son,was getting into his car(an early 80's Celica)and asked,"Isn't that, like,a waste of time?" (Flip of the coin tale.A few weeks later,he and his son were washing the Celica, and I asked him the same question.Which confused him.)
    Comments and questions about our 86 Colony Park have been;
At a GoodGuys Car Show we went to.We parked in the parking lot,and were headed to the front gate to get in and see the show.A girl, who must've been about five,at the time, pointed at our stationwagon and exclaimed with great wonder and admiration,"Whoa Daddy!Look at THAT one!"
"Those 70's cars sure were big, weren't they?" (Yes they were, even bigger than this one)
(related) "I remember hanging my head out of the window of one these and puking all down the side of it,back in the 70's."
"There's no f#cking way that piece of sh#t gets more than 10 miles per gallon, you f#cking liar!"
at work one day "Brian! Move that Oldsmobiley looking thing!"
(related)(a tow truck driver showed up to take it to the shop, because it wouldn't start) "That's not a Mercury!"
"They made cars that looked like that in the 80's?" (All the way up to 1991)
    ;)

Pulling up to the Taco Bell drive through in my '78 Country Squire:

The girl pops her head out the drive up window "Mr, is that a hearse?"

At the tailgate pregame party at my college with my '77 Country Squire:

Random college kid about 18-19, drunk, "Dude, I never knew they put real wood on cars"

At a random stoplight here in my home town in my '78 Country Squire:

Some Honda Pilot driver rolls down his window, asked this: "why do you still have your hubcaps and honky lips not spray painted on your car? You know East St. Louis is south?" As he laughed like a jerk and made a right turn.

I got my car back in 2006, one morning I decided to drive the LeBaron to work, this was before I retired from the Navy, and the gate guard said to me: " The Griswalds called, they want their car back", really kind of a lame line but not expected from a guy with a gun holding up traffic just to tell me that. I've stood gate watch myself it is very dull, probably the most exciting thing that happened to him that morning.

Those are great. The editor of Hemmings Classic Car magazine has an 82 Ford LTD wagon and he got a letter that exclaimed that he was an idiot for rebuilding the engine because it only gets 9 or 10 mpg and it's a piece of junk. Of course the reply said it got 20 mpg before the rebuild and every bearing was bad in the 302 that started instantly without any knocking.

Lastnight, I got a call from my wife who manages a local restaurant and 2 of the regulars drive Roadmaster wagons and are friends. Well she called and said to get up there quick, that I will get a kick out of it. I get there and here is our 92 Blue Roadmaster that she drove to work, and parked beside it is a Tan 94 and a white 91, both Roadmasters. I chuckled as I pulled my white 93 in there to park beside them. I wish she would have told me what was going on, coz I would have taken my camera.

Well, the 2 old guys and I were outside BS's and admiring each others wagons and down comes Vince, the owner of the restaurant, who also is my best friend and co-worker/boss (also owns a construction company that I work for) and says, "it looks like a wagon train just pulled up, lol."

So from now on, I am taking my camera everywhere with me, incase I get a photo op like that again. Probably won't happen again till spring though, those 2 old birds fly south for the winter.

Before I'd managed to save up enough money to get it's leak fixed,I'd have to pour a quart of oil into my Dodge's 318,every morning. That went on and on,for quite some time(ended up buying a lot of Raylube,a paraffin based motor oil,cuz it was less than a dollar a quart). Our 88 Acura Legend sprung a similar leak---and there was no putting off the repairs. It was fix it or toss it...
