Wagons in vintage Street scenes

I think there are only a few not destroyed by GM. Someone restored one lately.
The driver sits so high I'll bet it would be scary going under an overpass.

 

Peter Pan Bus Lines in Springfield MA owns one. I believe that there are more still in existence than many people think. You just don't see them all together, since they are scattered across the country.

 

Here is a picture from the driver seat. It's definitely waaaay up there. I got to sit behind the wheel of one a few years back. You've got to climb stairs to get up there.



The stairs to the cab are behind the door on the passenger side.

Oh, man, that '59 sedan delivery on the right side of the center photo would be soooo cool to have !

 

My Gosh! There are EIGHT people sitting on the trunk of the '59 Buick in that parade shot.

 

I've noticed in the older photos of 30's - 40's cars, especially at races, people are often sitting and standing all over them with heels, boots, and other things on.
And quite often family photos are of women and kids with shoes on posing.
No wonder there are so few nice old cars with original paint left.

I was thinkin more along the lines of "That's when vehicles had TRUNKS and were STRONG ENOUGH to hold the weight without bucklin like a tin can"!!!
