    Hey, I stayed there one weekend with my former wife. Was probably 1988 or 89. I was amazed at the feel of the place even then. Very Tiki even in each room, but old feeling. Like they were trying to hold onto the past.
    If it's not been totally replaced.. I would bet it's been renovated.
    Mores the pity.

    The photos I saw look like it's been redone outside, so I'd have to guess, especially since it's now a chain hotel, that it has been redone inside.

    Mel's Drive in from the movie American Graffiti (and I think also used in the 1967 movie, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner), as it appeared in the mid 70's (probably after the American Grafitti filming).

    American Graffiti was filmed in late '72 and released in August '73, so yeah a few years after. Anyone know if it still exists?

    Sadly, no. It was located at 140 S. Van Ness Ave. in San Francisco. It was torn down around 1976. A 200+ unit condominium building now sits on the property.

    I remember these on the mainland minus the clearly added later alum wheels, all cop cars had steel ones but for some reason on the island (upper) we had Mustang coupes.
