Yikes, this was one bad accident. I'm guessing the Dart wagon on the other side ran into the back of the car in front of him because he was rubbernecking. I can't even tell what kind of car it was that rolled over. I hate to say it, but without any seatbelts or airbags back then, I fear there had to have been at least one fatality.

    Not sure myself...Pontiac or Buick?

Just saw the trunk lid, it's an Olds?

    Yup - Olds. Maybe a '55 or '56.

And the white wagon on the other side is a Valiant.

You're right KK. I had thought all the Valiant wagons of that vintage, (the '61's and 62's) had those slanty taillights, but it looks like the '62's had round ones. Is this correct?

Correct. And the Dodge Lancer, sold in '61 and '62, looked like this:

What happened to the driver's front tire on Car #1? Is it in bushes in that photo?

Looks like it's buried in the dirt.

    Thanks.

It looks like #1 has a dimple in the windshield. No seat-belts.

When we used to go to junk yards I often wondered how those cars were wrecked and what happened to the passengers.
