I have never seen anything like the TRACK DRIVE IN in L.A. Those would have been nice in the midwest and other cooler weather areas.
We make sure to stop a few times back in Illinois at our favorite old A & W with the canopy over the parking area. Been going there since 1956 and with parents much earlier. :drink:Nothing like a frosty rootbeer.

We also had A&W restaurants here in Washington, but we also had Triple XXX root beer:

There is still one restaurant that I know of, in Issaquah, East of Seattle just off I-90. During the Summer, they have car shows there.

Ahhh, the memories. IIRC the XXX in Pasco WA had tacos to go with the wonderful suds.

This is a Canadian 1941 Ford C11ADF station wagon cut-down and modified for use by Field Marshal Sir Harold Alexander, Commander of the Allied armies in the North African and Italian campaigns.

I remember when I was a kid, we'd go to and from Idaho via the old US 10/I-90, and coming back, if us kids were good, we'd stop at the Issaquah Triple XXX for root beer floats. Imagine our horror when Mom would yell at one of us and we'd all freak out because we thought "This is it. We're not stopping.":sorry:
