    Information with the photo:

    This is from a Long Beach/Signal Hill refinery fire in 1958. There was also a refinery fire here in the 30's..... after this burned down in 1958 they put a auto wrecking yard over it, then in the late 80's it became an automall. I use to work at a dealer there and we had gas collection lines/bladder under the asphalt and a shed to burn off accumulated gases. When they would tear into the dirt to build something the stench of chemicals and crude oil was literally sickening. My dad and grandfather use to work in the oil business in Socal from the 40's-80-s and I have heard some stories of how they use to do things.

    Check out that awesome Vette

    We have one of these. Ex-NHRA racer, been sitting ever since it "retired".

    Anybody recognize this location?
    Jeremiah - maybe the source where you found this one gives details?

    Signal Hill is all developed now. Only a very few oil derricks left. Area has stores and light industrial now, along with the auto mall, where a lot of the Long Beach area car dealers went. In fact, bought #2 dtr's RX-8 from the BMW dealer there.

    ================================
    When I was stationed in ND (USAF), the Mrs. & I were comin back from base one night in my 79 Malibu 4dr with BUILT 355, came to a red light, and was behind a guy with a 80/81 Mirada that had a decal in rear window that said "340 SIX PACK". I laughed and told the Mrs. that they never made such a thing. Few weeks later when I was out cruisin with some friends before we went out drag racin, I came across that Mirada again, motioned him over to a parkin lot, we chatted a few, and he popped his hood, AND low & behold he had a bored 30 over 70 model 340 w/factory SIX PACK, headers, all tucked under the stock hood. NICE SLEEPER with all the comforts & luxury, but the heart of Mopars STRONGEST small block.........we became friends and did some good cruisin & racin over the years before I left in 92. I wonder if he still has that BEAST????

    They made 74 factory 5.9L Mirada CMX's, and it was only for 1980. One of these or a 75-ish Cordoba/Charger would make a great sleeper. In fact, the "newer" Cordoba was a rebadged Mirada.
