A Manta, A 911, and a Country Squire all came up to a stop light...

Looks like the wagon got the hole shot.

I can't hardly believe this thread got to 1000 pages.
    Awesome.

    All started innocently enough...

    Post #1:

And I think it is pretty awesome that page 1000 has a 64 Plymouth Fury, even if it isn't a wagon.

Statler-Hilton Hotel, Los Angeles, early 60's. I was all ready to say that this hotel is gone, but checking Google Earth, I found that it is still there, at the corner of Wilshire and Figueroa, now called the Omni Hotel.

    La Carerra Panamerica I

This wasn't just Mexico in the 1950's. This was the La Carerra Panamerica 1, the Mexican Road Race, held from 1950 to 1954, began as a celebration and promotion of the newly finished Pan American Highway. It was sponsored by both the Mexican government and a variety of local interests, competitors from the U.S., Mexico, and South America competed in a timed race from north to south. The initial event consisted mainly of individuals not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer, and financial support was very limited. Yet with each succeeding season, officials modified the race to encourage higher speeds and faster times. These alterations led to the coming of team sponsored and prepared vehicles, professionals and experienced amateur drivers. Also, a greater European presence emerged, concluding with the domination of high-priced sports cars. Despite the investments made, safety issues related to both the popularity and speed of the event, led to its demise only after five years.
