Sorry for the repeat of these pics, but I have a question...

These pics are of compact-sized Chrysler products. The lower pic obviously shows an Australian Valiant wagon. (RHD, and we never got the 3rd generation version in a wagon in the states) But what about that top photo?
    1. They're both LHD
    2. The wagon shown appears to be a 3rd generation same as bottom photo), but the C pillar is vertical instead of slanted. Makes me wonder if this is a photoshop job.
    3. '68 Valiant convertible? No such thing here in the states. Barracuda - yes, Valiant, no. i
    -------------------------------------
EDIT: OK - Looking at pic more closely, the Valiant convertible is definitely a photoshop. blurring I didn't notice before. Makes the whole pic suspect. now.

EDIT #2 - Thanks to Jim's tip, look what I found...

The original photo is from the 68 Plymouth Valiant factory brochure, and shows a Valiant 2 door post sedan in the foreground and a 4 door post sedan in the background. Both vehicles were photoshopped. I think the wagon's roof looks like it was borrowed from a Volvo.

In the US, these Valiants were only available as 4 door post sedans and 2 door post sedans. In Mexico, these Valiants were also available as a 2 door pillarless hardtop (but no convertibles).

In South Africa, the Australian A-body wagon body was used along with the American Valiant's front sheet metal. Like the Australian version, the South African Valiant was a right hand drive model. The sedan versions of the South African Valiants looked like the American Valiant sedans (except for the right hand drive). Below is a pic of the South African Valiant Safari. While the Australian Valiant wagons were available with a 6 or a V-8, the South African Valiants (and the Darts and Barracudas) were only available with the slant six in 68.
As for the Mexican built hardtop Valiants, I like them as well and the South African and Australian wagons. Wish they made the wagons and the hardtops here. Too bad we didn't get these models in the US.

There were significant variances in the Valiant line, depending on the market. For 67-9, our Valiant 2 door was a post, but built on the slightly longer platform of the Dart. The Dart was a 2 door hardtop, but also had the convertible available. Because of this, it is perfectly possible to make a Valiant convertible out of a Canadian 2 door sedan. For 70 and up, here, the Valiant shared both body shells with the Dart, so was available as a 2 door hardtop (Scamp) and the 4 door sedan, each available in 2 trim levels. When the Duster was introduced, the Dodge dealers got the Demon which had a different rear panel and the Dart front clip. That never worked quite right, though, as the rear quarters were straight off the Plymouth, and those front fenders did not have the rake to wheel well openings that the Dodge did.
