Not very solid reporting. The GP is 1973-77 (78 was completely different) and the wagon is a 73-78 Ford, not a Chevy.

The roof line, door handles, and style of dog dish hubcaps identify the wagon as a 70's AMC Matador or Ambassador.

I don't know how "vintage" this picture is, but since its the same style Passatt I have, it could be more than 10 years old.
I just had to post it. A wagon with a dog in the back and that personalized plate, it just needed to be posted here.

They may be maintenance nightmares but those sky-masters (aka mix-masters) are jjust too cool.

Yup, not a Ford at all. I wondered about it not being a Chevy and now that you mention it...Yup, AMC, the door handles are the give away.

    Now that pic I like:yup:

I guess so. The door handles should have tipped me off. That and the fact that a full-size Ford wagon would never have folded up anywhere near that bad.

Still a pretty bad miss on both counts by the reporter.

The first day of trackless trolleys at the corner of 6th Street and Broadway in 1947. Notice the Woodie wagon behind the bus.

I was shocked by the proximity of this community pool to the freeway and the exit ramp.
After looking at the photo for a while I noticed the top of a car in the bushes to the right
and realized the entrance ramp was right behind the shrubbery. Imagine the toxic air
these kids were breathing (or the possibility of an out-of-control car careening into the pool).

Doesn't look like that pool has been used in years. Good thing....
This is the Glendale Bl. / Echo Park Ave. exit of the N/B Hollywood Fwy (near Dodger Stadium) (on ramp to the fwy as well).

Driyers didn't text or eat fast food back then. And cars didn't think for themselyes!
I'll bet that spur road was added much later after the pool.

Take the bushes down, and pour a reinforced concrete wall around the pool, and let the kids enjoy the cooling effect of a pool again. There are some location problems that are difficult to resolve, but this isn't one of them. As for the "fumes" from automobiles, they are all around us on ever street in the nation, and no one has suggested banning driving completely...... or have they in California......

The lower pic is off Google Earth, and shows how it is today. The off/on ramps to the freeway are basically the same as they were back around '57 when the pic was taken. If you look to the right side of the old pic, you can see part of a car negotiating the on-ramp.

Agreed Mike, They actually fly very nice, but are very sensitive to weight and balance issues.

And they are notorious for Killing Inexperianced Pilots, They do not require a Multi Engine Rating (at least they did not 20 years ago) as you do not experiance a yawing motion if one engine fails. But you still need to attain the min single engine cotrollable airspeed before you take off.

Most of the take off or landing accidents accured when the pilot lifted off before attaining that speed and if an engine fails below that airspeed they A/C stalls. And if it stalls you need altitude to recover, that usually isnt available during take off or landing.

This 1952 Chevrolet ''Tin Woody'' wagon was used in Stanley Kubrick's 1956 movie The Killing with Sterling Hayden, After getting out of prison, Johnny Clay (Sterling Hayden) masterminds a complex race-track heist, but his scheme is complicated by the intervention of the wife of a teller (George Peatty) in on the scheme, the boyfriend of the wife, airport regulations, and a small dog.
