The signs pointed me to this Plymouth wagon.

L.A. pioneered the use of large approach signs which makes it
easier for drivers to read, which later evolved into the large
street signs you see at traffic-light controlled intersections,
which other cities in various parts of the U.S. have also adopted. 1960; notice the large Olympic Blvd. sign.
Great Plymouth wagon and the cool 1959 Chevy with the
gull-wing tail fins. How do you suppose that dent was made in the tail gate?

NE corner of Wilshire Blvd. and Crescent Drive. The tall phallic shaped building is Los Angeles City Hall where all the big dicks work. Hey I think I might be on to something here. 1940 then and now

This is from the LA Times as well; LA's smoggiest days were in 1958, during August that year. There was an eight day span where the street lights in Downtown did not turn off---24/8, on those days, because the sky stayed so dark. 1200 people were reported to have died during those eight days from various respiratory problems. Many of them were people already suffering from some kind of lung disease... During the first ten days of October 1980, while Ronald Reagan was running for President and claiming to be a clean air champion, LA did not go below First Stage Smog Alert in some parts of the city---even in the middle of the night. They use a different labeling system now, where it can get smoggier before it gets "unhealthful", than during the days of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Stage Smog Alerts.---

LA is also supposed to have pioneered the "traffic signal". Which started out with a loud bell that dinged and arms that traded places for Stop and Go. No caution. That developed, later on into the red, gold and green we're all familiar with now. now, for that dent. They opened it with something sitting on the bumper?.. the rest of the back of that car looks just fine.:49:

I am betting the beautiful old Victorian house in the background is long gone, too, worse luck. That was quite the house in its day.

That's a Chevrolet Tin Woody Wagon I can't make out the year
because I can't see the front end or the side moldings.

This was also before the days of the "do not cross" police tape.

I don't know if any of these pics have been shown before, if they have
maybe enough time has passed you'll think your seeing them for the first time.
Anyway this iconic landmark was designed by the famous
Paul Revere Williams, FAIA he was an American architect
based in Los Angeles, California. He practiced largely in
Southern California and designed the homes of numerous
celebrities, including Frank Sinatra. This Theme Building
is a landmark structure at the Los Angeles International Airport
within the Westchester neighborhood of the city of Los Angeles.

This is the room Johnny Stompanato was stabbed to death in Lana Turner's Beverly Hills Home at 730 N. Bedford Drive.
The assailant was Turner's teenage daughter Cheryl Crane.

This is the Sentous Block in Los Angeles, designed in 1886 by
    R. J. Reeve; the same year Reeve designed the U. S. Hotel and
the Phillips Block. Louis Sentous was one of the great French
pioneers of Los Angeles who’d arrived penniless, panned for a
little gold and became a successful cattle rancher, trading meat
and dairy at the Plaza until he bought the nearby piece of
property (bounded by Sunset, Spring, Main and Macy)
that was to bear his name. The Sentous Block is best known
as where Mike Hammer cruises over to the Jalisco Hotel in
Kiss Me Deadly; it also contained
the Bamba Club, which doubles as the Round-Up in Criss Cross.
(Both on the Spring St. side of the Sentous; our image shows
the Main St. side.) Louis lasted until 1911; his building til 1957.

Does anyone care about the story surrounding the scenes the
wagons are in or do you just want to see the wagons?
