My Cousin Anne had a 78 Pacer woody wagon named "Baby" until she passed 2 years ago. Baby is still going strong, and belongs to her grandson, who had always loved the car. They are surprisingly nice cars to drive.

You know... I know I wasn't around to see a time when wagons were a common sight on the road but I look at these pictures and feel as though I miss seeing them all over the place, as if I had once lived a life where they were plentiful.

Has that been legalized in your state?-------------- Yes. We pay taxes to be able to breath.
You may have not been around when station wagons were very popular. But think about all the vans, VW beetles, even PT Cruisers we used to see until recently. It's a cycle that keeps changing. When is the last time you had to wait for a train to pass?
I grew up when station wagons were becoming popular and still can't believe all of them that were on the road everywhere back then. I miss station wagons and real vans. Both very handy. I suppose the mini van and SUV will have to do now. I see mini vans slowly disappearing too for those SUV's which seem to be shorter station wagons with more toys.

Looking southwest, 1960. Small businesses are visible mostly on the east (near) side of the street.

The first picture is from Season 1 of "Emergency!", the second from season 2. From Season 2 on, this wagon was always missing the front left wheel cover. It never got replaced for some reason, and the car kept showing up episode after episode. Must have belonged to a crew member who was happy to have it parked close to set. Very close!
