    givin' me the blues

Now, this was a big while back, the Los Angeles Times ran an article that explained the psychology of color, as they pertain to car's paint jobs. And what each color means, in the big scheme of things... Like RED means excitement, performance, passion and---quite possibly, that the owner wanted to be a fireman when they were a kid. Especially if they bought a RED truck... They went thru all the colors of the rainbow, saving blue for last... And then explained that, the main reason car companies don't usually paint their cars blue is; that people who drive blue cars are unimaginative... That was it ! That was their whole explanation of blue... Sounded like a bias to me, then and now. Probably had parents that drove blue cars and something Freudian and Oedipal kicked in... Have had several blue cars. They were among my favorite cars. I liked them a lot. And, maybe to prove them right, I'm not imagining that.:p

White and grey. Now that's unimaginative.:(
I love red cars and have a red truck. Never ever wanted to be a fireman. Who dreams this crap up? :49::idea:
Seems to me many people I know buy whatever color is on the lot when they need another car.

    color coding

Have never set out to "buy a green car today" . Not usually buying cars by color. Once put an ad in the local SoCal Car Trader paper saying; looking for a Mercury Colony Park. Any color will do, would prefer blue. will pay good money for car in good shape. Now, if I get to the car and it's like pink or dayglow orange or jellybean purple, I might decide to not get it. But, if I'm preferring blue and it's any other nice color, I'm not going to throw a hissy fit cuz it's not blue.

Once in the early 90's I had a dizzy spell and the devil made me trade our 55 Chevy wagon even up for a Mary Kay pink 49 Ford coupe with wide white walls, turnpike cruiser skirts, etc.. Actually grew to like the car even though under the pink it was a LEMON.:slap:
Funny traded it for a yellow 1941 Ford.:rofl2:
Eventually bought MY wagon back. What fools we mortals be.

I have bought many cars not caring what color they were. Most were those plain GM pale green, a white Escort, and light blue cars. But if it's red I'm a sucker.
