    Would have been better if the photographer had waited another 1/2 second for the babe in the Austin-Healey to enter the frame.......

    This was a staged publicity photo. The "Babe" happens to be the photographer's wife.

    All of that said it is am amazing photo. I do like it. Very Iconic.

    First thing that flashed in my head when I saw that gas station pic was the entrance / line area for the Disneyland Autopia attraction back in the 60's. Sponsored by the Atlantic Richfield Co., it had a very open 'modern gas station' feel to it, with shiny metal and lots of florescent lighting at night.
