    I think it's interesting that this same idea basically failed big time when GMC tried it many years later with the Envoy XUV
    (Maybe because it was so expensive)

    The Chevy Nomad was supposed to have this sliding roof feature but production time getting near, money, leakage were a problem. Yet remnants of the idea are in those roof panels on the 55-57 Nomad.
