Never saw a pick up camper like that. Not a bad idea.
As for the Fugly car, just changing the headlights and front fender treatment could make a decent custom. But back in the day, these wild customs were called beautiful.
By the way 35 cents for a car magazine is outragious! They'll never sell many at that price.

Every time I see one of those top mounted tents I think how cool it would be to camp in one...like a cool little fort on top of your wagon. :)

I have allways wondered how many drunk campers fell off the roof of there wagon in the middle of the nite?:rofl2:

And that truck canopy, looks like a great corner to rip your head open too
    :rofl2:

I sure miss the pre Canadian and American Safty Standards days! Toys were dangerous, but fun!

And if it were mine I'd bang my forehead on it a hundred times every weekend we camped with it. Then I'd cut it off nice and rounded.
With our first old fashioned wall tent with stakes and ropes I was always falling over those darned ropes. They'd move. Especially at night after a few sodas!

The Chicago PD conducted tests out in front of Channel 11 studios on June 19,1956 and used a squad car, compliments of the Chicago Metropolitan Ford Dealers as an announcing booth. The location was 57 th and South Shore Drive.

The tests used some sort of a detonator discharge device on the vehicle to signal the driver to apply his brakes and to shoot out colored chalk marks to record his reaction time and braking distance. The policemen were then able to measure the distances to come up with reaction time and stopping distance.

I reaeaeaeally like the "fugly" front end on that car. Sorry, Cat.

That last one with stopping distance test is cool.
