    Early '70's Gas Crisis apparently...

Anyone else notice the late '50's (I think) Vette in the background?

Yup but I think it's a 61 or 62. It looks like the rear is the 61-67 type rear.

------I'd guess 61-62 Vette. Wonder if the guy with the push lawn mower was gonna get a complete fill up? :biglaugh:

I hate to comment on this thread and mess up the great photos. But sometimes we have to put in our two cents. I'd think he would have drove in with a gas can.

I remember times during the gas "shortage" in California that you couldn't fill up gas cans. There were huge lines at the gas stations and you could get only so much gas and NOT in any containers. Maybe that's what's going on here.

    Walked Away

Back in the day when I was a foolhardy teen (read:who wears seat belts ?) I was riding shotgun in a friends Olds wagon nicknamed The Great white, when a then-new '79 T-bird locks up to a full stop in front of us.

Mind we were only going a good 45+MPH and had no place to swerve left (oncoming traffic) or right (extremely deep ditch) so rear-ended the Bird with little to no braking. Struck slight off center to the driver's side and the wagon's engine came through the firewall and up under the front seat, very exciting to say the least.

My friend who was driving literally bit the steering wheel leaving a blue discoloration on his recently-released from braces teeth, myself I cracked the down-turned vanity mirror with my forehead and smacked the windshield hard enough to leave a 'spiderweb' pattern.

Short version: A good dozen butterfly bandages at the ER and a slight visible scar to this day reminds me to buckle-up.
