I checked Nash brochures - nothing even close. Packards were somewhat close, but trim was all wrong, and The rear wheel wells all had skirts.

Well, it's definitely not a Chrysler, I've worked on a '47 Plymouth Special Deluxe, and it's nowhere near that roofline shape, but what about custom coachwork?

Looks like a 1946-1947 Chevrolet or Oldsmobile Series 60 - the cheaper sedan models of that era. Not enough trim or chrome for the higher end models or for a Pontiac or Buick of the same year. The bumper being the large wraparound type is from a higher end Olds series of the same year which makes it hard to say exactly without seeing the front end.

Oldsmobile and Chevrolet would make sense. And don't forget that back then, options were line items. So if someone wanted better bumpers on a cheap car, they could 'check the box' on the order form.

You may have got it, elB.
Looked at a '46 Olds brochure, and found this page - 1946 Oldsmobile '76' 4-door sedan. Seems to have the same roofline. Has the same chrome trim around all the side windows. Same bumper shape, too. I think we have a winner. 1946 Oldsmobile bro page.jpg

Until elB lead me to the Olds, I was beginning to think it might be a European car, or one from the eastern bloc, Like a Moskovich or something.....
