I believe Malinow and Silverman had multiple locations throughout the greater L.A. area.....

The '10' Freeway does indeed pass by the city of West Covina, however that stretch is known as the 'San Bernardino Freeway, and was built a bit earlier (mid 50's mostly) than the Santa Monica Freeway section of the '10' - west of downtown L.A.

Here's what a two-door hardtop version looked like in better days. I'm not one for bony-faced skinny-legged models, though:

The young “skinny legged” girl pictured in this photo was actually a tourist visiting Moscow, from Leningrad in the summer of 1956. Here the lovey young Heather Vodinavonknic seen leaning against Mr. Nikita Khrushchev’s personal car, was trying to secretly see if the 5 foot 3 Khrushchev actually used pedal blocks. When she explained the harmless situation to her two guards, the humorless Khrushchev had her deported to Siberia, where she was summarily shot upon arrival. The bottom picture is actually the hearse in which Ms. Vodinavonknic’s body was returned to Leningrad, after her “horrible skiing accident”. The photo taker, believed to be her sister was also arrested. The sister, Mrs. Tattianna Borebavcheeska was also killed in a freak accident while returning to Leningrad. The Kremlin could not be reached for comment.

If that was the case, it's now no longer true, as this was the only location Google Maps listed.

The Soviets always had to make a big production out of everything. I suppose, it was because an overstaffed KGB had to do extroardinary things, in order to justify their otherwise mostly fictitios employment status. At least, the more pragmatic Bulgarian secret entity was using poison-tipped household utensils like umbrellas and pens, to keep things simple.
In any event, had the young lady meat on her bones, it would have been likely that she could have cut a deal.

Now that's an interesting photo. Do you suppose it was staged?

Photos of the 1960 Detroit Auto Show that was held at the new Cobo Hall on November 14, 1960. Visitors exiting the highway at the show, with a commercial parking lot visible in the foreground.

The 1961 Models were the first shown at Cobo. There’s a great YouTube on Dinah Shore introducing the ‘61 Chevy line up at Cobo.

I didn't think anyone remembered who Dinah Shore was, let alone that she was associated with Chevrolet's "See the USA in your Chevrolet" advertising campaign.
