(ca. 1969)– View looking south on Topanga Cyn Boulevard at Saticoy Street with a Union 76 station seen on the SE corner and a Mobil station on the SW corner.

    Historical Notes

The Mobil station is now a mini-mart and the Union station is now a Walgreens, but that liquor sign near the SE corner still stands!

The intersection of Topanga Canyon Bl. and Saticoy is what most San Fernando Valley people would call the N/W part of the valley. Following the direction of the camera (south) on Topanga, you would eventually get to the Ventura Freeway (101), which could take you east into L.A., or west, to Oxnard, Ventura and eventually Santa Barbara on the coast. If you STAYED on Topanga going south, a little past the freeway you would start climbing a bit as the road going into the Santa Monica Mountains (very small mountain range - hardly ever gets any snow at the top....)..... and eventually the road will spit you out on Pacific Coast Highway, and hopefully a great view from the north side of Santa Monica Bay. Turn right, and you would be in Malibu in 5 minutes.

That 69 Mustang is a fair distance away in the pic, yet that tall wide hood scoop was only on 2 years of Mustang tells me...........

Good catch! That could indeed be a Boss 429. You very rarely caught them driving on the streets, even when they were new. There were only 857 built in the '69 model year, and 499 in the '70.

That would be pretty neat if it was a real deal Boss 429.
It's certainly possible it's a non-boss that someone stuck a Boss '9 hood scoop on.
But, I like the idea of it being real, so that's what I'm going to go with.
