Well there you go. Thanks for the correction Krash.
Either way, I remember when it happened and my Dad said something to the affect of "well, that's not going to work out"
He is a carpenter by trade and used CRAFTSMAN tools almost exclusively. He was pretty upset when things started changing after the K-Mart deal.

Kind of reminds me of the Packard/Studebaker deal.

Do they even make Craftsman tools, anymore?
What's wrong with that? I wish they had the same exact merchandise that they had in '68. That was a very good year

Do metal containers travel in large barges from far away?

Oh, no. China makes them, now. Time to shut down Sears, then

From what I read about the Sears / K-Mart deal is the rich kid that owns most locations only bought them to sell the land. He doesn't care or expect Sears or K-Mart to survive.
We made personal adjustments way back when Sears stopped giving out catalogues. Now we buy fancy white paper in rolls.

The large mall Sears here closed long ago. Since then a new store opened in much smaller empty buildings around town. The one we have now doesn't seem to have many more cars in their lot than employees would use. Our local K-Mart shut the doors a few months after we moved back to Illinois. Three of our kids had worked there when younger.
The Florida Sears in the nearby large town looked like a ghost store for years. Anytime we went in we had to almost beg to be waited on and then the employees acted like it was their first day on the job. We gave up on Sears.
Years ago Sears was our favorite stores. We even went to the Sears tower once.

Yeah, Jeremiah, that's kinda what I heard too. The main guy is Ed Lampert. K-Mart has had its troubles as well, even declaring bankruptcy back in the 90's, I think. These are two poorly-run organizations that deserved each other.... Looks like the future will be without K-Mart AND Sears........although you are liable to see some of Sears' more valuable brands remain around, like Craftsman (already sold to Stanley, I think), and Die Hard.

This reminds me of an electronics and appliance store that's not far from here. You only see them in sparsely populated areas. But, never see this chain in urban ones, to no surprise. The item I bought was small. In fact, only a code for downloading the Kaspersky anti-virus firewall. While there, I browsed around and could hardly believe the prices which seemed tailored to the Swiss, to Germans who were working there who have nothing better to do with their expendable income and to those who don't bother getting out of their hamlets to venture out into urban areas. You wouldn't believe how many employees they had for so little business. Only one of them was German and that answered my question as to what they do with low to no skilled offspring of labor recruited a few generations ago who were assigned doing menial tasks and work that Germans refused to do. The local news likes to brag about how low the unemployment rate is, down here. That store seems like a customer-supported welfare office for the hidden unemployed. The electronics store which I used to frequent when I resided 60 kilometers from the Swiss border, in an urban center, employed half as many and did at least 20 times the turnover

I miss Radio Shack and Tandy Leather stores. Apparently all or most have closed. No one makes or repairs electronics anymore and making a belt or billfold is done over seas.

You're sending him to taxidermists. Are you planning hanging Denny on your wall as a trophy?
