I was getting Hemmings Motor news when it was only a few mimeograph printed pages stapled together. The early copies were mostly sent to car shows and I'd pick one up at a car show in central Illinois free.

We probably live under 100 miles from Quincy, Illinois. We often camped near Quinsippi Island where there was a small RR that took you from the east shore near where we camped over to a car museum and small amusement park. River floods destroyed most of the island added to maybe low visiter interest at the activities.
After I married Hemmings was finally a small catalog. Around the summer of this issue, we'd drive to Ernie Hemming's farm house where he had a one car wooden garage filled with old and NOS parts. That's how HMN began. He later sold it after he got much too old. It made several moves and I believe may still be in Bennington, Vt.
I stopped getting Hemmings when I worked long hours and had too many hobbies to read even parts of it.
