OMG! When I was eight, those two movies were out, and American Graffiti was the first movie I ever saw, at a theater, by myself, with my own money. It looms quite large in my first ten years of life. But, it could've been different; Sleeper was playing next door to AG, and I had seen a trailer for Sleeper and laughed my butt off, so that's what I tried to go see, but the pimply-faced Zep Disciple ticket doofus didn't want to get in trouble, so he said no to Sleeper, but offered to let me in to American Graffiti!

^^^ First date with my (now) wife was 'American Graffiti'. Second could have been 'Sleeper', but I don't remember for sure.

I had at least six first dates. My brother and his girl friend kept fixing me up with girls in my high school classes. Back then finally having my first car the drive in diner then the drive in movie was where boys took girls for dates.
Each girl was slender and cute but it only took one date to find we had nothing to really talk about. I was interested in old cars, motorcycles, and playing a few instruments. The girls were into dancing, watching sports, and giggling.
I made a mistake. I went on one more date with a skinny hillbilly type farm girl from Minnesota. She was new at the school and I'm still not sure if we talked about cows, corn, or cars. But we actually talked. I have no idea what movies were playing. In fact I don't even think we kissed on the first date.
There were not supposed to be any more dates. That was in 1956 and we're still dating........ and talking!
I don't remember seeing American Graffiti until the 90's at a makeshift drive in at a car event in Waukegan Illinois. I still wear the T-shirt.

My first encounter with a gal was not on a date, but a dance. I met Nancy at my Demolay chapter's investiture dance, and by the time the night was over and it was time for her and her fellow Job's Daughters sisters to go home, she gave me a gentle hug and kissed me on the lips. I'll tell you, I floated the four blocks home! Next morning, as I'm dressing and getting ready to come downstairs for some brekky, the phone rings, followed by my mother's bellowed "Andrew! Phone!" So I walked downstairs, figuring it was one of my buddies, and as I stepped into the living room, mom had the receiver pressed to her chest and force whispering "It's a girl!" I answer, and Nancy is on the line. She got my number from the sister of one of my Demolay chapter brethren and dialed me up!

I showed that to my brother Tim, who was upset someone would do that to an otherwise nice, straight Mustang. I agreed, and pointed out to him there was a Ranchero ahead of it.

Glad you mentioned the 'wagon' ahead is a Ranchero. I was so impressed by the Mustangero I assumed the other was a wagon.

Other than that part, we need to figure how to get the other off topic topics off this Street Scene.:hide::nohijacking::wrongforum:
