Los Angeles International Airport ("LAX') circa 1962 (approx - judging by the cars i see...) The 'themed' spaceship building is still there, but nobody goes in it (it's unnecessary). Just about everything else has changed. The tower in the background was replaced by a newer and larger one a few years ago. The entire area where you see cars has been replaced by 4 or 5 level parking structures - which were all empty after 9/11. EVERYONE had to park at a remote lot an be bused in. What a nightmare.....
I still remember as kid about 1958/59 going to the old LA terminal and getting to go inside a new United DC-8 that they were showing to the public..... The old terminal looked about what you would expect a train station to look like....only with planes outside....

The rust worms always had an liking for Ford products back then.. :yahoo: Chevy's were next in line for rusting, and it seemed that Chrysler products held up the best over the long haul when it came to rust. On the other side of the coin, I can remember when Vega's were rusting on the dealers lot before even being sold. Rust is a combination of problems as sometimes design caused the rust, and other times, poor quality steel was the culprit. Today, your best protection against rust is to keep it clean and dry. The chemicals that they put down before a snow storm will eat up the metal faster than you would believe. I have seen 3 year old plow trucks that looked like they were dipped in a salt bath, the rust was so bad.
