    If I were the driver of that '57 Chevy, I would seriously have to resist flooring the accelerator.....

    Santa Monica Pier. Old pic, too - maybe even before I was born in 1951. This is the north side of the pier, where the breakwater is, so water's calmer here. After your kids were older, you would go to the other (south) side of the pier - no breakwater on that side.

    Ah, the North entrance to the Battery Street tunnel in Seattle. Next year, it will be closed, and the Alaskan Way viaduct will be demolished, as the new Alaskan Way tunnel will open, thereby allowing an aged and quake-damaged structure to be removed. This, of course, means that any building looking at the viaduct will then be looking out over Puget Sound, and real estate prices will go into orbit.
