This site is slow in loading up lately. Is this just my connection?

It was much better to be a female alcoholic, back then than now. Both spouses needn't go to work, to afford life. Let alone, both having to work multiple jobs, even. She could go off partying with her friends, while hubby was at the golf course. All that's missing is the bar-be-cue. But then, the image was taken in Autumn and it would be even more unusual, if they were cooking at a public parking lot. America, back then, wasn't so militarized as it has become nowadays. Well, maybe in Mississippi or some other deep southern state. Nobody cared about what housewives did, back then. Maybe, if those domestic bums were men, some cop might come up and ask what's going on. The contemporary brown paper bag missing from these ladies bottles would be a giveaway for contemporary male bums on wheels.

 

If you know where these images were taken, I think most would appreciate you informing us. That building in the above photo looks cool. We could then compare these locations with contemporary neighborhood images.

Back then, you could pave your lawn and then sell cars from your porch. Nowadays, city ordinances have become so beurocratic that they could see a car of yours sittting in your backyard from a satellite. Then raise money, through mailing you a fine.

 

I like this and only a 2-door. Can't remember ever seeing one.
The two ladies picnicing on the wall are probably waiting for the husbands to come back with the fish they're catching down at the lake.

As for the parking in your yard referance, we are 1/2 mile beyong the city and our corner neighbor sells firewood, cars, and a few RV's. Non licensed I'm sure. He rotates the vehicles every now and then so they appear driven or sold. Just the short time we've been here I've seen the friendly county stop and take pictures. Legally you can't even change a tire or you own oil........ But it's still a free country if you buy all the permits.
