You know, I was only a little 8-year-old when the first oil embargo went down, and I have to say, I do not remember any incidents of people fighting, ramming each other, or any other bad behavior because of the gas lines. How much you wanna bet if that happened now, lines wouldn't matter because everyone would be killing each other, winnowing down the lines.

Gee! I miss the gas shortages and gas wars. Actually here in the midwest it seems everyday is a gas war. The prices go up and down over 25 to 30 cents a gallon sometimes in one day.

    RE: The gas shortage days......

Those were horrible times. Had to sell a vehicle I loved because of it (4-door '69 Thunderbird); Lots of mad people; Lots of impatient people.

Were there any fights back then? I certainly don't remember any.

I don't even remember long lines in Illinois. We're more civilized here. I just remeber higher prices and early closers because of gas shortages.

I don't recall seeing any fights, but a lot of flared tempers, mostly for line-cutters. I was in the greater L.A. area.....

My dad was in sales, and drove about 40,000 miles a year. He had the plate changed on my moms car so one car would have an even plate the other an odd.

That would not only reduce the cost of fuel and the planet's population (less consumption and consumers reducing demand for speculation). Tesla owners would get all the action onto their cellphones and then laugh at them all on their forum.
My older brother was always the toughest in the line. He never got his butt kicked. Even today, he can take anyone his age. Nowadays, people fight at stations for other reasons.
